This isn't the electric shock kind of collar. It makes a loud noise right behind her ear. I would not put a shock collar on a little dog like Lacy. Besides, I doubt that she would feel it through all that hair. Yeah, mine has the shock and the audible. Once the dog associates the shock with the audio, you can wean off the shock. Usually when she is misbehaving my voice brings her around. But when we have strangers in the house, like AC repairmen and plumbers, she just won't shut up. If she is going where she doesn't need to be, a sharp "LACY" brings her to my side. But she'll keep barking even if I pick her up and clamp her mouth shut. |

Some dogs are barkers, some are not. GSPs bark, but not indiscriminately. When they bark something is going on, always. I encourage them. Keeps us all safe. Boston Terriers have a rep as barkers. My Mags never barked, not at anything, for any reason. Strange. Since she never barked there was never any reason to correct her. Duh!

My collie only barked when it was necessary, and my Weimaraner after he got a few years old. My poodle was smart too. He only barked when he was glad to see me or there was a problem. But Yorkies, man they are just dumb and self centered. The Italian greyhound was dumb and sweet and quiet.

I trust my border collie if she does not like you its time for you to leave. Dogs are the best home defence. When my wife and I started dating she had a mixed border collie cross. After a few months she would come to me before she would my wife. Boy the future wife was pissed. Always got along with dogs better than people. Dog never gets mad at you for buying guns, ammunition, pipes or tobacco
