Hi all, I just thought I would post a few recent pipes. These were mostly all commissions. Thanks, Todd

So, ya know a bit about sandblasting, heh? Technically there are only two pipes there that are blasted sir. I know a lot of people get Rusticated pipes confused with Blasted ones. Rusticated are hand tooled to look.........well rusticated. Blasts on the other hand bring out the grain pattern by bead blasting in a cabinet. Either one can be a lot of added work to a pipe.

and isn't it ironic, that at Retail Sellers, smooth pipes are priced 15-20% higher. Paying for better quality briar with less defects?

Yes, because the rarity of briar without any natural flaws is almost like hens teeth. Ron is right that Briar with perfect grain and no flaws is very hard to come by. Smooth pipes are priced higher because of the rarity of suitable Briar and because it takes more work to produce a smooth pipe with a flawless finish than it does to produce a blasted or rusticated pipe. He is also right that most of the pipes I have posted are rusticated rather than blasted. I really love a good, craggy rustication. Todd
