Beans.
They are more nutritious, easier to produce and just better.

Yep, people don’t now anymore how to peel spuds , cut and fry them, but then down in Cajun Land we’ve been frying, peppers, pickles, boudin balls, cauliflower, eggplant, crab cakes, shrimp, onions, tomatoes, okra, cracklings, I feel like Forrest Gump

Funny. I suggested returning to Ireland on another forum and was immediately accused of being a racist. How in the world can someone come to that conclusion? In American there have been too many jokes about the Irish and potatoes. I forgot about that since I do not make ethnic jokes.
Anyway, I, for one, would not miss French Fries, Freedom Fries, Potato Chips. Frying potatoes is tasty but not healthy.
The Burger Stand, a restaurant in Taos, offers French Fries cooked in Duck fat.

How in the world can someone come to that conclusion? People who have never experienced racism. It is this new PC world. References to gender or national origin, ethnicity, fatness, beauty. We are becoming homogenized.

If I can't respect someone I avoid that person if at all possible..It has nothing to do with where they're from or what they look like...I love fries. My favorite is the fat ones called Streak Fries.

Or Belgium. I understand the Pomme Frite is very popular there, as well. They are the people who dip theirs in mayonnaise.

No God fearing, Flag waving, American would ever dip his Fry into mayonnaise. Some liberal types might but not us regulars. Just kidding. I have no idea if anyone does that here. Ketchup or vinegar or chile gravy are what I see used typically here.

I have been told what we have for mayonnaise isn't the same as what you all get. Could be wrong, but one of my buddies does the whole fries dipped in mayo and wont do it unless he goes to the international market to get some non american Mayo.

I have made mayonnaise from scratch and it is better than store bought but not worth the trouble unless something like poached salmon is being served. French Fries? Foh-get-a-bowd dit.

Just great, it's bad enough I might have to grow my own tobacco and now potatoes so I can have fries. What's next? Have to make my own oil to fry the fries in?

Leaving God out of this, I think that the people who wrote this underestimated the gigantic stash of frozen and otherwise preserved potatoes America has...
And pork...
And just about every other food product and commodity.. Yet we have so many hungry and needy people just in this one country alone.

Sometimes I like a good mustard on fries or a mustard ketchup concoction. I have tried the mayo with malt vinegar and other vinegars otherwise known as German style. As for the poor the USDA is set to start delivering USDA America's Harvest Box instead of benefits loaded to a credit card.
