Sometimes I like a good mustard on fries or a mustard ketchup concoction. I have tried the mayo with malt vinegar and other vinegars otherwise known as German style. As for the poor the USDA is set to start delivering USDA America's Harvest Box instead of benefits loaded to a credit card. I too am for this idea. However I would submit that they will have to start offering cooking classes as well. Many if not most poor folks today do not know how to prepare anything that didn't come in a box or with microwave instructions. At least that's been my observation based upon what I see in the media and what I see being bought on food stamps.

Fully on board with dipping the fries in mayo, mustard or ketchup. Malt vinegar, not as much. But where I really get lost is the people who dip their fries in a milkshake. Ice cream? Delicious. Fries? Delicious. Drinking a milkshake while eating fries? Delicious. Dipping fries IN the milkshake? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

McDonald's fries in a mcflurry are surprisingly good.

I will concede Fries with Green or Red Chile and that is as far as I am prepared to go.
USDA food boxes? I hope this "Harvest Box" is better than the USDA Commodities Box I used to deliver to Senior citizens in my end of the county. Two pounds of American Cheese, two pounds of pinto beans, a pound of rice, two quarts of milk, two 14 ounce cans of green beans, two cans of peaches in syrup, a 12 ounce jar of peanut butter, a can of stew containing mostly water and potatoes, rarely a can of beef, maybe a two quarts of cranberry juice cocktail. Pretty sad contents in a nation with the abundance we have. Older people were glad to get it as soe are very poor here. I would be a rare visitor. One old gal was down in her yards and could not rise. I was able to get her up and back in the house. I just wish they were not so neglected. There is a State of NM agency which is supposed to help seniors. They seldom come up this way.

Sweet and salty is absolutely classic, I love it myself, but for some reason fries in ice cream grosses me out. Even though drinking the milkshake while eating the fries is great. It's just my personal quirk; well one of them!

Agree with Michael the wife and I often share just a large fries from Micky Yaya if we are out and about. Martin Brower hauls food for Mcdonalds by truck but the fries come in seven rail cars per day for the Houston area.

Martin Brower hauls food for Mcdonalds by truck but the fries come in seven rail cars per day for the Houston area. As I recall, J.R. Simplot of Idaho developed the McDonald's French Fry. He grew a special low moisture spud which was perfect for deep frying. The rest is history.
They are better than any other I recall.
