The better half and I took a rainy-day road trip "up the country" to place flowers on my Mom and Dad's grave today. On our return trip ,we stopped at a roadside tobacco/cigg/vape shop. Inside I found something I never expected...great customer service! I've had three coupons from S.T.G., burning a hole in my pocket for some time now, so I picked out two pouches of C.B. Royal, and one of Borkum Riff's Mixture /Bourbon Whiskey, placed them on the counter with some flints , and put the coupons beside them. " I'm not sure i can take these " came the comment I was expecting...I told him Just the flints would be fine ,and that I'd be glad to return the tobacco to the shelf. " Oh no sir " he said, as he whipped out his phone...we watched , wide-eyed, as he called his boss to check . Once off the phone, He smiled ,rang up the order took off eleven dollars for the coupons, and ,as he handed me the bag , he thanked us and wished us both a Happy Holiday , with that , we shook hands and I thanked him for the service, i forgot to include the fact that the salesman was almost my age {60ish} and ,while it may not be a factor , i've had the same deal go the other way with a younger salesperson. ,

Good customer service is so rare these days that when it happens, it stands out. I'm glad you had a positive experience.
Last month I tried to use a voucher that I got as a wedding present 14 years ago. There was no expiry date on it so I chanced my arm.
The man said, 'wow, I haven't seen those in a LONG time,' but he took them and I saved myself £50.

Excuse me for taking the thread off topic but ,since we’re discussing great customer service, I want to share an outstanding experience I had this week.
Ordered a kitty condo from Chewy.com. When it arrived and I unpacked the box, a couple pieces were cracked. I took pictures and sent an email to them.
I received a very nice, apologetic reply within a couple hours. They sent a replacement condo, and did not want the (slightly) damaged one back. They will be getting more of my business going forward.

A great story. Whenever I receive outstanding service I always make a point of sending an email to the owner of the establishment citing the employee's efforts.

Chewy.com has to be one of the best organized customer sensitive sales organization I have ever encountered. We have used them countless times for our needs for our "baby". Whether it is food, treats or clothing for our loved one...Chewy.com has always come through with the best customer service you could possibly find. We got a "car seat" for our small Chihuahua that advertised a sheepskin appearing liner...when it arrived it was a cloth liner that gave the appearance of sheepskin...we called and mentioned our surprise that it wasn't as advertised and they, thinking that perhaps it was a one off mistake sent another car seat...when we again contacted them and we asked if we could send the first one back, they said to keep both for our inconvenience. We weren't looking for something for free, but they went out of their way to make us happy with our choices....since then we have spent quite a bit of money with Chewy and have been actually thrilled with the products they advertise. Above is a picture of the stroller we got for our sweet "baby" so that she can go with us everywhere.

Good for her! It is nice in that type of situation to give credit when due, and it is a nice change from negative feedback that people are more prone to offer.

Must be a lucky month. I had an astonishingly good ebay experience this week, on a very niche item: a 1942 aircraft bubble sextant. I've been looking forever for one not just as a collectible, but to use for backyard celestial nav practice (can only use a regular nautical sextant with a true sea horizon).
Anyway, the seller claimed it was completely reconditioned and collimated. I was skeptical but pulled the trigger. A flurry of emails followed, offering me choices on mods that enhanced usability (led lighting of bubble chamber etc), or asking if I wanted it original for historical reasons. It arrived in better than advertised condition, with like-new optics and bubble chamber, a tool kit for servicing, spare parts, the original paper manual and wood/felt case. Seller emailed the day it arrived to verify condition.
I'm gonna give him not only a good review on Ebay, but on the traditional navigation forum (there's only one, we're weird lol). But yeah, great guy.

Chewy is the best. I had a great eBay experience. I bought a used Corona from a guy who included a note that if it broke to send it to him. I did, and he fixed it and sent it back. For free!
