* Sorry gang. I really did complicate a simple question of asking if you all have a preferred pipe/ type of tobacco combo based on what you are/ are planning to drink. In the future I will do a better job of getting to the point and not be soo long winded. *
I am sure a thread has come up with questions about pairing various pipes with various spirits but I will still ask this one because I think it has interesting take on why some pipe smokers will choose a Meer over a cob or briar when drinking a specific type of spirit. Lets have a blast folks! I may have to figure out how to turn this into a poll but until then..give it some thought and have fun!
Clear Spirits- Meer, Cob, Briar, Olive wood, Morta or Falcon type pipe
Amber Spirits- Meer, Cob, Briar Olive Wood, Morta, or Falcon type pipe
Sweet or Dessert Spirits- Meer, Cob, Briar, Olive Wood, Morta or Falcon type pipe
Red Wine- Meer, Cob, Briar, Olive Wood, Morta, or Falcon type pipe
White Wine -
Meer, Cob, Briar, Olive Wood, Morta, or Falcon type pipe
Fruit Wine- Meer, Cob, Briar, Olive Wood, Morta, or Falcon type pipe
Beer: Lager, Pilsner, Porter, Dark, IPA and any others I have missed- Meer, Cob, Briar, Olive Wood, Morta, or Falcon type pipe
Please tell me why you prefer pairing each type of spirit with your choice of pipe material.

My palette isn't as developed as some others here but, for me, it has more to do with the stem than the bowl. If its an acrylic stem that won't absorb any liquid at all then it won't do with sweet drinks. If it's an older ebonite stem with the slightly fuzzy texture then you drinking while smoking sort of works.

if I was blindfolded and had somebody hold a gun to my head and I had to determine which type of pipe material I was smoking from I would be a dead man.
I only drink red wine but it usually has to be with Latakia and it usually always has to be in my favorite freehand Briar pipe

I've never thought of this, but I think if I was drinking a whiskey or spirits neat, I wouldn't smoke a cob I think I'd use a briar pipe for that one.
Cob with a beer or Guinness.
Prosecco with any kind of pipe.

As a young man I drank an ocean of George Dickel Wiskey {black label}and Coke. My favorite pipe in those days was my Estella rustic 606.most all the Estellas have lucite stems. My tobacco ,back then, was Captain Spice, from the Tinder Box, or an equally heavy Vanilla blend I used to get by mail-order from John B Hayes ,in Fairfax Va. If I was having a cold Bud, I was most likely puffing on Carter Hall or Middleton Apple in a briar; I never smoked cobs till I became old and wise.

I got an old Barling apple at the Vegas show that is a wonderful smoker. Also, recently received a gift of a Mastro de Paja 3C Canadian that's also terrific.
