But it bought me this! It's a rack that was originally for those little souvenir spoons that some people used to collect on their travels. $1 at a local thrift shop and a couple of screw eyes; flipped on its side and voila! i.imgur.com/1nA6oor.jpg

You my good man are a genius. After reading pipe forum threads for years you are the first one to figure that out.

At first glance it looks like a great idea. However, I wonder what it will do to the stems over time. In only takes a few seconds to dip a stem in hot water and reshape it. The plastic or rubber isn't solid and under pressure it can move. Keep a close eye on it.

Like Booknpipe, as a pipe smoker, looking at things thinking how they can be used in regards to our hobby...serving trays make great tobacco caddies, Buffet cabinets make great tobacco cellars, and the old Map drawered cabinets and some antique dental cabinets make phenomenal pipe storage cabinets (assuming you can find reasonably priced ones). I was looking for a pipe rest tonight as nature called, out went the napkins, in goes the lap pipe.

What an ingenious thing to do. You deserve a prize for that.
