A quiet one for me..the wife departs for California to spend the week with a sister that is at the end of the road, her twin is flying in from W VA. to surprise the sister...a quiet night of reading for me tonight...the kids are coming tomorrow, we will be grilling steaks.
The next week, the home will be smoker friendly.

 Have a good Christmas everyone, good health, presents are good, but health is better. Giving my kids their treasures from my grandparents , they are old enough to receive. Been holding them for years, ain’t getting younger, want to see their faces rather than waiting for them to inherit without an explanation why they are so special. This place is special too!

IF the snow holds off, this old Humbug will head into Toad to visit my ex-wife and her partner for Christmas. We will drink Glenlivet Whisky, 12 years old, and play cards. Then we will eat the turkey we missed on Thanksgiving owing to her accident.
If it snows heavily, that will have to be another day. It is 50 miles each way and a bit treacherous in spots.

I am truly thankful..The Doc said my friend's bypass operation went just fine..That's such a wonderful gift...I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas full of love and happiness....

Plenty of food, libations, and a dog that always needs another body to scratch his ears! I smoke year round in the house when I want to, I just sit at the back door with a fan to run the smoke out...I will be all over the house this week....our retirement home will have a self contained cave for guns, books, office, and other sundry pursuits.. |

Merry Christmas to everyone who is of that persuasion and Happy Holidays to everyone else.
Soon I'm off to my favorite church service of the year, our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. It is always warm and nice. Our children and their children have all been with us the last few days and we've had a wonderful time, except our youngest granddaughter (3yo) has been down with a cold and fever. She is doing her best to have a good time. They are all leaving in the morning for their respective in-laws in Nebraska and KC. We will be alone for a few days and then my sister-in-law and boyfriend will arrive from Canada. Hopefully everyone will have safe travels.
I know I will be enjoying a pipe at some point this evening and hopefully tomorrow as well. I hope you all do too!

but what if you suffer with severe depression? Seeing middle class kids get obscene amounts of new toys while millions get ZERO who live in abject poverty,many starving to add to the 20K people who die from it each and every day takes all enjoyment out of it. We work at jobs we hate, to buy more sh*t we don't need,to impress people who really don't care.

Hope everyone had a great holiday. Sorry for my absence, but to those of you who have known me for a bit, you know my Christmas is a bit crazy. Back to Buffalo to see the fam and prepping for days to get ready for the Feast of the Seven Fish on Christmas Eve. Hard to find time to do much else other than be immersed in family and friends.
