If you haven't read it yet, Please take the time....Rick wrote a very thoughtful piece: reason.com/archives/2016/12/13/the-fdas-unauthorized-war-on-pipes-and-cIf you would like to take it a bit further, and come out of the choir loft... and contact your elected officials, Brian Levine has offered to email a copy that is formatted better to print or send as an attachment, his email is brian@pipesmagazine.com. I would be happy also, to forward it on to anyone else, just pm me your email address and I will get it to you. I wrote a short cover letter, letting President Trump, my two senators, and my congressman know about how the FDA regs will affect my choice at the simple enjoyment of a pipe that is a safer alternative to cigarettes, and I asked them to thoughtfully consider the article that Rick wrote. If, and when I receive response(s), I will post them on this thread.

One squeaky wheel may not be heard but several thousand are hoard to ignore. Added pressure from trade groups also helps. You can bet that I'll be sending letters and I'll recruit the members of our pipe club as well.

Thanks for this Charlie. The hyperbole in the concluding remarks is a little over the top but I appreciate the passion. I've already been in contact with both Senators McConnell and Paul regarding this issue.
Not to be political but the bigger issue for me is pipe smokers being tossed under the bus with health insurance companies and charged exorbitant rates. An individual who vapes on a regular basis will probably have a higher nicotine blood content level than myself on any given day; nevertheless, Anthem still allowed them to qualify for non-smoker rates with the corporation I retired from in September while I paid higher smoker rates. I could have lied about it but that's not in my DNA.
Nothing against those who choose to vape; however, I fear unrestrained health insurance companies more than the government on this one.

I hear you... I read a vape article where they decided to blame anyone that actually smokes as part of the problem, and in their defense, they group all smokers together as they throw us under the bus.
It seems the cigar smokers are carving out their own trail of defense also.
I understand separating from cigarette producers, they pretty much poisoned the collective mental well in regards to the harms of smoking, by word, deed, and buying off politicians.
The rest of us do a pretty good job of dividing ourselves for the conqueror.
Certainly not meant to be political, but collective healthcare naturally will lead to looking out for the greater good of the covered... our hobby has been demonized in the mind of most, we are definitely in the minority.
