Yeah...face it we have all been there, the person in front of you hands the dogeared coupons to the cashier and as they try to scan them you realize that you picked the wrong line. Or worse yet, the shopper is too lazy to clip them and hands the to the cashier to fish out the scissors... In the digital age, you download a store app, click on the specials and when you type in your phone number the digital coupons automatically discount your purchase at the register..if you are a married couple you can run through as separate sales and double up. I was at the store the other day, in store Lucerne cheese in 8oz. portions advertised in store was "normal priced" at $2.99, marked down to $2.49...in the app, the same packages were .79 cents limit 3. We recently got liquid All laundry detergent in 36 oz. for .69 cents limit 3. We haven't bought bottled water in the 24 pack of 16.9 oz for a couple of years...freebies. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, .99 cents per pound, 10 pound limit. Kingsford Charcoal in all the varieties, Cherrywood, Mesquite, etc... $5 per bag 16 pounds. And it goes on and on...I do not know if this is a southwestern regional thing, but it is worth looking into to see if you have the same deals...this is a big deal as you retire, but icing on the cake if you are still working. FWIW...We do all our shopping at Albertson's Safeway in the Just4U app for my Arizona brothers and sisters. And you can stack this on it:
Your mileage may vary, but I hope not.

That's some nice savings there sir.
With 642 children, I try to save as much as possible and stretch a dollar as far as itll go. We dont have an Albertsons, but we have a few small chains that have great sales if you watch closely.

Kroger has a similar thing, but the app is a pain when you are in a busy check out line.

Kroger has a similar thing, but the app is a pain when you are in a busy check out line. Just click on every offer before you go. Or...some store apps allow you to print out the coupons that you are interested in (branded, portion sizes that are on sale) as a shopping list.

I spent twenty-one years with Safeway, and the last eighteen with Kroger, and i can tell you for sure that coupons are no joke. A small amount of time spent on homework can really add up over a years time. Add to that the fast food chain coupons, Auto repair coupons for oil changes, and even coupons for haircuts and such , and you can turn a little time at the kitchen table into real dollars. Our Krogers offer fuel points for food dollars spent, and still more fuel points with the purchase of gift cards. It may seem like a big game , but if you play it right there's big gain to be had.

Your bride needs to negotiate gift certificates for your favorite online tobacco merchant! On second thought, you have had a successful marriage....don't rock the boat.

We use this App too ... some great deals especially in the meats. When they first rolled out the program, my store had a sign below a product advertising that the low price was available only through the app...I don't know if they have gotten lazy, or they just chose to not post it....in the case of 8 oz. cheese for .79 cents, I would have never known unless I opened the app. I accept notifications from the app. and it offers some stuff that would be easy to miss.

Most of the time, we shop at the Bashas in Camp Verde and I'm not sure if they have this or not. If we are going "into town", so to speak, it's always Safeway. Edit: Unless it's Green Chile season ... then we stop by Food City!

Yeah...since I am running to New Mexico I thought that I might buy my green chiles out there next year, but if you buy a bag of chiles from Food City they roast them for free....I will never roast in bulk on my own again unless I can commandeer a roasting cage.

If you have the freezer space, it is good to buy a bag of chilies and have the market use the roaster. Then take them home, clean and package them for the freezer. I usually keep some fresh ones on hand for the Weber Grill.
