Is it just me or do you notice that when a team fires a coach or manager..They very often hire one that's been fired by another team? Some times I just scratch my bald head and wonder.

Even wierder is it's the coach's fault if they don't have a good season. I always thought it was the players who weren't playing well enough to win! But if an owner blamed all their players they pay ridiculous salarys to he'd look like a fool for paying that much for folks who can't get the job done. It's the PLAYERS on the field, not the COACHES!

This is an great topic as I live in the Cleveland area despite growing up near Pittsburgh and being a Steeler fan Talk about a dichotomy! Despite the current cluster flop coached by Mike Tomlin the Steelers have cemented themselves as one of the best of the best when it comes to the franchise and the Browns have cemented themselves as the worst of the worst.
The Browns will hire another no-name coach because no coach with credentials will come to Cleveland where failure is guaranteed under the current ownership.

You can't fire the whole team, so when things need to be changed, it's usually the coach. It's almost never because the coach is incompetent, but to shake things up. A fired NFL coach rarely goes long between jobs.

It's the PLAYERS on the field, not the COACHES! I've always had the same thoughts. Just because the players aren't playing well or if they're playing better opponents and perhaps have little chance of winning, the manager gets the blame. I understand that managers help her the players to play well in terms of tactics etc., but for something like soccer, it's about getting the ball into the net. At professional level I'd like to think that each player will know how to do that as a team, regardless of whether or not a manager or coach tells them. Perhaps a team hires a manager that's already been fired because good ones are hard to come across?

Head Coach the most over rated job in the world. By the time the players reach the pros they should know what they are doing. I pay more attention to the defensive/offensive line coaches. After that they should just hire a good shrink for the steroid pain killer addicts they call players. As long as the masses are entertained bring out the lions.

I have seen several owners hinder coaches. Don Shula was a pretty good Dude.

The Browns are going to always Browns it up. Hue Jackson was the hottest coach at the time they hired him and we know how well that went. The job to me is pretty attractive and a win win. If you suck they fire you after one to two years and you get paid to not coach. If you win you keep your job and the possibility of making more money down the road. I'd really like to see the latter happen in my lifetime but I doubt it.

Head coaches are middle managers; bad ownership will always overcome good coaching, playing, fandom, market, local political support and everything else.
