I have had this bottle for a number of years and I am going to give it to someone who recently helped me with a problem. I don't know how old this bottle is but I know it is different than the current bottle and box because this one has no mention of the "12 years" on the bottle or box.
Can any of you fine scotch drinkers help? Fine as in gentlemen, not fine as in scotch, because I have no idea how good this scotch is

Check the ABV. The 46% came out circa 2010, and the 43% came out circa 2014.

No age statement on a top brand is a recent development. Before Y2k it was unheard of on a single malt. It's a way to get more products into the market instead of waiting 12 - 25 years.

To the original question, it's a very good Scotch.

We watched this a couple of weeks ago and it was great. Even the wife loved it. She was given a 1.75 litre bottle of Chivas for Christmas. Even though I like the Islay stuff, I believe it can be disposed of gracefully.
