No seller feedback is a red flag but it is protected by EBay buyer protection which saved me on a prior purchase gone awry some time ago. The pipes alone are probably worth the starting bid price IMHO which is unusual for these types of sales, hence the reason I posted. Not chasing this particular offering but one could do much worse. I probably have over the years, just not all at one time.

I have a hate/hate relationship with Ebay...I have 250 transactions with 100% positive feedback but.... I have sold items with clear descriptions and pictures, and when buyers with no transactional history either become deadbeats or want to return product...(twice they did so by purposely damaging the product) Ebay sided with them. When I have raised objections about a bogus item I ended up with...they sided with the seller. Ebay sucks...I will still do business with people that I have dealt with, but no one else....did I say they suck?

Yup trailboss, it is a pos company for sure but a necessary one for most of us pipers. I sold a pipe once and the buyer opened a case thing because the pipe was "at least an inch shorter than stated". I asked for a picture of the pipe with a ruler or tape beside it for proof. A few days go buy and the case is closed in the buyers favor. I got the pipe back and the measurement I gave was dead on. Oh well, at least I got the pipe back in one piece.

When I have raised objections about a bogus item I ended up with...they sided with the seller. Ebay sucks...I will still do business with people that I have dealt with, but no one else....did I say they suck? I've been doing business on EBay since 2000, over 500 transactions, 100% positive feedback. Selling is definitely more of a battle now than back in the day. Selling fees are greater. Dealing with feedback extortionists is more common. I've also had auctions blown up by foreign bidders despite clearly stated shipping policies; nevertheless, I think it's still positive overall. The best way to sell is not offer returns. It will decrease interest but also reduce selling issues. I'll take it. EBay will back any buyer if a return policy is offered. That's not necessarily a bad thing and I've benefitted from it but I wouldn't advise it for sellers unless they mean it unconditionally. Second, keep narratives to a bare minimum and show detailed pictures - Anything you say can and will be used against you. This greatly reduces options for buyers with buyer's remorse and EBay will support sellers in these instances if no return is offered. Third, never respond to feedback extortionists who demand concessions in exchange for positive feedback or threaten negative feedback. Report them to EBay. It's against the rules and EBay will protect the seller in these situations. Fourth, send all items USPS insured for the price of the item and build price into the auction. If the buyer claims damage, scan, forward mail receipt and tell buyer to take it up with USPS. EBay has never held me responsible for damage claims with this documentation. Fifth, challenge negative feedback. EBay has scrubbed underserved negative feedback from my profile twice. It's a pain in the rear end but an occasional necessary endeavor if one wants to continue conducting business as a seller on a small time basis. As a buyer, I've won every confrontation with a seller on EBay because they actually delivered a bogus product or didn't follow these seller policies; otherwise, it's buyer beware.

I assume there was a picture of the pipe with a ruler included in the auction? I always include one. Otherwise, once a buyer opens a case I stop all communication with the buyer and only deal with EBay. No matter how bogus buyer's claim, if seller doesn't answer directly to EBay within a specified time they'll automatically side with the buyer with which I don't necessarily disagree. Difficult process to navigate after the ball is opened.

No ruler I just stated how long the pipe was for the buyers benefit. I didn't know at the time that it was a "method" for the dishonest buyers or those with remorse. Same as the big boy online retailers do. The give you the sizes and you trust them. Maybe the guys wife said NO MORE PIPES!, lol.
