Man it sucks to see the devastation and the holocaust visited onto man and beast... I saw a Koala bear with a singed nose, he was one of the lucky ones... it really tugs at the heartstrings.

It is even worse when man starts them. Last count 10 youths and 12 adults arrested for starting fires down under.

It's bad, I have an online "friend" over there, shes a nurse and has been pretty damn busy. She's sent me pics and it's absolutely heart breaking.
Many fire fighters from all over the world have showed up to help.

Truly tragic. While I feel for the loss of the people's homes and property, the death of animals from sheep to kangaroos is terrible.
Pray for rain Down Under.

Dallas & Ft. Worth have sent a group of firefighters over there to help out. They figure over 40% of the wild life have died. They need to take the folks who started these fires and tie them to a stake in the fire and let 'em burn!

I agree Michael!
I was reading stuff about it the other day and the loss of animal life is HUGE. I forgot the percent they gave, but it was a very large one.

I did see a picture of a devastated home and already a small tree was sprouting new growth. Fire is not a bad thing for promoting new growth to overgrown areas but it best when controlled. I also read today they plan to eradicate 10,000 feral camels. Maybe it will kill off the cane toads that were brought in by the sugar plantations.

I read that so many Kolas have died and so much of their habitat has been destroyed that they may become extinct in the wild.

The fires are on the whole east coast of Australia and todays weather here locally is 43 deg C with strong NW 30 km/h winds and stronger in some some regions, a real nightmare for those heros fighting the fires. They expect catastrophic conditions and alot of people to be evacuated. Here where I live, Wagga Wagga the evacuee centres are full, show grounds full of animals, domestic and native being taken care of by volunteers. Everyone is trying to help with donations, their time and supplies both for people and the animals. Its very humbling and emotional seeing how all the community has come together to help. Take care all.

Many places from around the world have sent firefighters, its devastating.
I've been watching this close for a while now. The people that intentionally set some of the fires should be shot. Start at the toes and work their way up.
BASTARDS.

It is so heartbreaking and frightening to watch. My wife has relatives there and they're starting to get concerned. I really hope they can get under control really soon so no more damage is done.
To all our Australian friends on the Patch, be safe.

Too much fuel and time since the last fire. When fires get this big and HOT it destroys many seeds and trees as well.

I really feel for those people, being displaced myself due to Mother Nature. You can’t believe everything you read but putting this out a native has studied the plight and the Abirgional people knew their land and would induce small fires when conditions were right, now it’s said the fires are worse where white man is. Probably like California where forest control is not practiced anymore. Here in Louisiana controlled Marsh burning is practiced by Fur Companies and the marsh comes back greener and better than before.
