okay, so the proprietor of my B&M had a guy come in and ask if he could get a blend of tobacco he used to get somewhere else but are no longer in business. He called it Burnt Dutch (or Dutch Burnt). The owner had never heard of it. I've asked around a bit for him but so far no one has any clues. Any of you guys have an idea? I'm thinking maybe it was a B&M name for another more common blend, but no ideas what it might be.

Peter Stokkebye PS301, Lane TK6 something sweet with lots of toasted cavendish would be my guess and that would not be a educated guess. The PS301 is often sold as Dutch Mixture in jars at B/M stores.

another thought occurred to me, perhaps the B&M blended a couple of bulks to come up with that. Any ideas what combo might make a burnt dutch blend?

When I started smoking pipes back in the early seventies.A smoke shop that I frequented would let you fill out a card that listed portions of different blend that they would mix for you..Tell them your name they would get your card out of a box and mix up your blend for you.

After speaking with an LJ Peretti tobacconist, I was offered this service seven years ago. It required a bit of time, to sit and sample blends which were tweaked to one's liking. I understand they have over 100k in recipes dating back 100+ years..... Now we have the FDA...

i bought some dutch cavendish, bagged a bit and took it to the B&M. it will be passed along to the gentleman who made the inquiry and we'll see if it is indeed what he is looking for....
