so, i'm looking for a pipe that is "me" and I've seen some that are close but not quite right. I am going to try and draw it, but these are the two key elements. I like the shank and stem of this pipe:
and i like the bowl of this pipe, kind of like the horn of a Victrola, but it would want it slightly bent like the bowl of the above pipe.
but I want it in white. "Margaret" means "pearl" and I am quite fond of freshwater pearls, they are simple yet elegant and unique, so I want a simply elegant white pipe,
I also like the single, thin band of silver on this pipe:

not sure where one would "fit" into the pipe I want, but i think it would add a nice accent.
So, after putting my latest tobacco acquisitions in jars and doing the dishes ( ) I will try my hand at coming up with a sketch.

Looks like you want a tulip shape pipe. One way to get exactly what you want is to commission a pipe. Not cheap but it will be the best pipe you ever smoked. One word of caution about a "white" pipe is that heat and tobacco tar will, at some point, start turning the pipe into something resembling old ivory to light brown. A good pipe maker will walk you through the process and advise on the features ypu want. Save your pennies and think it through. It'll make communicating with the maker a lot easier.

I might recommend Ryan Alden for a commissioned pipe. I've met him a few times and he's a straight up, honest dude. He's an ex truck driver that decided to chuck it all and become a starving artist, and his pipes just get better and better. He's won some awards at pipe shows and because he's not hugely famous yet, is relatively inexpensive; his pipes start around $250. Here's a contact link, also check out his galleries. www.aldenpipes.com/contact/

never thought about it turning color. if it just became an old ivory color that would be fine, but i really wouldn't want it to become brown. phooey. will have to give that some thought.

HI M'lady, the Bremen piper on this video features a Meerschaum marker that takes commissions of your designs, maybe the whitish Meerschaum is what your dreaming of? Bye for now. www.ebay.de/usr/meerschaumschnitzermehmet

Maybe he just has more fun drinking beer and carving a Dublin in his man-cave than driving through the desert at 2am with a load of nuclear waste in the back PS Forgot to mention RDPipes on this very site for a commission. He's made some freaking gorgeous pipes for not a lot of money.

I'd go meerschaum for white; however, as John stated, they will color over time. I have three Altinoks and two Bakis, can't go wrong with either.

i hadn't thought of meerschaum, seems a little intimidating right now, but it would probably make a gorgeous pipe.

If your pipe dream doesn't come true, is it a pipe pipe dream?

Ryan just lives down the road from me a piece and is truly a craftsman and a gentleman and if I could afford it I'd commission a pipe from him.

I've seen some of RD pipes' prices start with a 1; most of Ryan's pipes start with a 3, so...
