I just watcher the Super Bowl..I enjoyed the game..My father once told me that the older I got the more I would feel as though I didn't fit in..Meaning that as younger generations came along their values and the things they liked would be different than mine..I not only watched the game I watched the commercials.I wanted to see what all the hype was about..A few of the commercials were touching..The rest of them to me were totally weird...If these commercials represent the thinking of today's society then I know my father was right..I feel as though I don't fit in.

I know what you mean. For me it was the half time show that was out of sync the most. To me that was not entertainment. 😀

I for one would enjoy seeing a few marching bands from around the country doing the halftime show... or atleast from the host city..

I couldn’t agree more... far from being a prude, but pole dancing and triangular bush leather is stupid unless you are a a horndog with no virtues.
The halftime show seems a race to the bottom.

At one point I thought the characters around Jay Lo would start presenting one, five and ten dollar bills... Personally I have always had the frame of mind of one who was on the outside looking in, though I can see the truth in @ 's father's statements. PS For better or worse the halftime show and commercials were not so odd or strange. The half time show was fairly well choreographed and executed. Still most of the music (outside a few moments in homage to more traditional Cuban and Latin music) was typical pop drivel. There is no doubt the sexual norms of the entertainnent world, and by extension certain parts of our culture, speak to the acceptance of what was considered taboo and/or perversion. Perhaps I have not lived long enough as nothing was outside of view. The major thought in my mind concerns my daughters and how to best prepare them for this world. Hopefully my wife and I will be able to instill in them the ability to see the emptiness of such displays to follow wisdom and truth against the growing tide.

Who would want to fit in, anyway? My thoughts exactly. Alternatively, you may not fit in THAT kind of culture, but I'm sure you fit in other cultures - for example, I'm sure you won't look too out of place in the the pipe-smoking world. It's all relative.

Don't feel bad, I never fitted in, don't watch sports of any kind. Oh, I use to enjoy drag racing and sometimes golf, now none of it interests me much, I watch documentaries, Nova, some History channel topics, etc. Not too many new movies even interest me anymore. But, I'll not miss a good Western from the 50' or 60's and sometimes 70's.
Is it because I'm old, no I don't think so, it's because I have standards and morals that my parents taught me that still live on today. That and I believe in something that is bigger then all of us put together.

probably I don't fit in much. No idea how to use a camera or how to transfer items to computer. O.S. WIN7 even 'tho no "support" from Microsoft. Anything goes wrong...if our techie can't fix it, will most likely give us a long "how to do this" with WIN 10. Happy to be mostly upright.
Game competitive till Mahomes & Co opened it up in 2nd half. No prude either, the gals did a good r-rated with shades of x-rated. J-lo, amazing for 50ish. However, the crotch-patch covers, pole-dancing...the twerking etc...just a t&a display. Nothing wrong with mostly Hispanic Miami but we don't speak Spanish. Spent much of halftime with "dessert" for us. Anybody old enuf to recall that on Ed Sullivan show in the 50s...the censors refused to show Elvis Presley from the waist down. Again, twerking with plenty of clothes on! Overall, give entire thing around a B at best.

I posted on another thread here that I did not approve of the half time show. I freely admit to being old and in the way. We are becoming a trashy people based upon what we consider to be "entertainment", the way we often dress, the way we speak and, certainly, the way we behave in public.
My other complaint, can those guys in the broadcast booth just SHUT THE FUG UP! Please confine comments to the play and, in a slow moment, RECENT stats on the teams? Their constant stream of babble is distracting, annoying, insulting. They appear highly insecure about their jobs and have to keep the motor mouth to justify their excessive compensation.
Introduction of the teams should be speeded up and handled with more dignity. This one looked like a clown show.
This may be my last Superbowl unless the "format" changes.

I'm 28 and feel out of place all the time and I'm fine with that. I am comfortable with who I am. As for the halftime, I didn't watch it. I'm not much into sports, but I've heard enough about it to realize it was a bunch of garbage the powers that be want to shove down our throats. Between garbage like that and the kneelers, well, I've certainly no reason to start watching sports.

I dont think I ever fit in. The only time the Superbowl was even on my radar was the three years running I went to a friends party for it. That was just because I liked to party with him! Modern pop music, I like a lot of it. The lack of moral standards in dress on stage.. I dated a stripper that wore more out in public than that...

I'm going to chide ya'll for a bit: So a 50 year old woman is paid to promote her latest film in which she plays a stripper. Did she really do anything or wear anything that you hadn't seen Ann Margret, Tina Turner, Cher, Demi Moore, Susan Sommers or Jane Mansfield do before? Was it some how more presentable to have Ronnie Wood and Jerry Lee Lewis sleeping with 15 year olds in the 60s and 70s or Beatlemania requiring police protection than a 43 year old dressed in a garish short red dress? Sometimes I wonder how we'll survive the miniskirt, reefers, and Juicy Couture as a people! I know that we are on the whole a debonair, classy and well behaved lot; the pinnacle of every social circle. It may just be that we are piling on and ascribing to 15 minutes of network TV something that we aren't even sure is really there or changes in our own lives. Totally miffed about Shakira not dancing to Hips Don't Lie though and not having Pitbull on was a missed opportunity.

All of the stuff you mentioned from back in our day? (Im 52) It wasnt OK then either. Some folks still hold the morals and standards of decorum that they always have. Always have...always will.

This doesn't effect my life at all. Why should I care? I understand our friends from Montana's point. A person has to have standards. I get that. But there is another truism: What would you rather be. Right or happy? (because you are not going to change it)

I don’t worry about fitting in. I haven’t watched the Super Bowl in years and never did watch the half time show. I liked playing sports, but have never been much of a spectator.

It bleeds thru to the young ones, flappers, hippies, rappers crappers, you name it. I watch the news, as we all do, in parades for high school, Mardis Grais, young majorettes, 8 And 9 hunching like the person who sat out the National Anthem for the Super bowl. Shameful. I’m not a prude, I cuss with the best of them, but there is a time and a place. No respect for nothing anymore. No wonder the rest of the World looks at us as we have lost our way. I’ll get off my soapbox now,

My kids sure thought the halftime show was funny. They kept shrieking "they butted us!!!" and howled with laughter. "Butting", of course, is sticking your bum out at someone. I, by proxy, was thoroughly amused.
