I am 72, I don't fit in. But I liked watching the 2 Ladies, a lot! The young one, in her 40s, could even belly dance. A homer with bases loaded. Not a KC fan, but glad they beat SF.

I'll take a different tack, to be contrarian. I honestly don't understand why people fixate on outfits or the lack thereof. I mean geez, it's a human body, we've all seen a few of those. So who cares which pieces are visible? This is one thing that constantly amuses my European friends... we 'muricans are totally fine with graphic violence and murder in casual entertainment... but oh my god a boob! 😁 But really, I just miss musical talent at these spectacles. Wear or don't wear whatever you like... but lip syncing simplistic tunes you didn't write and can't play anyway does NOT make you an artist. Even if you're twerking . The most painful part to me was watching what's-her-name try to pretend to play the drums for 10 seconds. Yikes. But - and this is coming from someone who doesn't even really like the sportsball - that 4th quarter was fun to watch!

I should have got more singles at the bank for the half time show at least there was no cover charge and two drink minimum.

Okay, several have said it here and I have a dim clue of what it might mean but, before I assume anything can someone please tell what is meant by Kneelers?
And I hope this is not referring to any religion or religious group.

Some people are kneeling during the national anthem as a expression of what they believe to be social injustice by police and other government agencies to certain races. Lets just stop right there and if you need a better explanation send me a PM.

And I hope this is not referring to any religion or religious group. I understand the confusion. "Kneeler" is an old pejorative for some Christian faiths where prayer is done on one's knees. It has a new meaning aptly described above.

I wish I had something to add to this thread, but I just don't watch baseball. 👌👍 +1. I smoked my pipe outside at half time.

Watched the game...tried not to watch the half-time...yeah, we don't fit in, and that is fine by me...they can do their thing, and I'll just keep on doing my thing, which is to try to stay out of the middle of confusion and consternation. Enjoyed seeing Mahones...seems to be a pretty good qtrback. Glad to be out of the traffic in downtown Miami. What a madhouse that place is.

Loved watching Shikira, but felt the hip thrusting and crotch touching was wholly inappropriate for National day time television.

I'm going to chide ya'll for a bit: So a 50 year old woman is paid to promote her latest film in which she plays a stripper. Did she really do anything or wear anything that you hadn't seen Ann Margret, Tina Turner, Cher, Demi Moore, Susan Sommers or Jane Mansfield do before? Was it some how more presentable to have Ronnie Wood and Jerry Lee Lewis sleeping with 15 year olds in the 60s and 70s or Beatlemania requiring police protection than a 43 year old dressed in a garish short red dress? Sometimes I wonder how we'll survive the miniskirt, reefers, and Juicy Couture as a people! I know that we are on the whole a debonair, classy and well behaved lot; the pinnacle of every social circle. It may just be that we are piling on and ascribing to 15 minutes of network TV something that we aren't even sure is really there or changes in our own lives. Totally miffed about Shakira not dancing to Hips Don't Lie though and not having Pitbull on was a missed opportunity. I agree in part. There is nothing new under the sun, in terms of humanities general behavior or proclivities. Humanity is still humanity. The super bowl halftime show was relatively benign, compared to what can be found freely online and elsewhere. People are also susceptible to exaggeration, distortions in feeling/thinking and experience changes throughout their lives, shifting some perspectives while maintaining others coloring their own past, person and environment. However, it is also known that cultures adjust, morals shift, laws change, position/character/will transform........ for better or worse. Along these lines one might ask what would have happened had the 2020 Superbowl halftime show aired in the 1950s (I assume by magic as the 1952 Television Code would not have permitted stations to air any number of Superbowl halftime shows.) ? On reflection it is obvious that we have gone through systemic cultural changes many born from the 1960s (The gestation period can be traced back much further.), some for better others for worse. There are things that were underground, sub-cultural, a private affair , youthful expression, scandalous behavior etc. that have emerged into the larger culture overwhelming (or at least trying to), competing and/or attempting to compete with ideas and truths many hold dear. Some of these alterations do not appear to be passing phases or relatively brief occurrences but arise from deeper divides and philosophical differences that cannot so readily be dismissed. Jane Mansfield, Anne Margret look tame now (Classic beauties). The rest had their moments. Personally, I would say compared to Madonna and the acts that followed, the Superbowl show was not surprising. However what you might have missed is the thread's original meaning. There are folks here, a number older than I, who have a sense of alienation. I believe with the ever troubling cultural , political climate and the like, this show is simply a trigger bringing about a bit of reflection and thought. I would not doubt that the thought/feeling has been with them for some time and has been acknowledged in the past; A seed planted years ago has been growing and has bloomed over such lush soil. As to the generational aspect, I believe this sense of alienation has grown in modern times as ideas , technology, communication etc. have accelerated change not only effecting one's day to day activities but our overall culture and society among other things. In comparison, I do not think that a man or woman living in the dark or middle ages would have made the statement ( @ ) that started this thread. One probably did not see much change at all over his or her ~30s year life span let alone in the many years that encompasses those times. Jerry Lee Lewis (23) was roundly criticized for marrying his third cousin (13) especially as he had yet to divorce his second wife. The two issues pretty much ended his rock in roll career, though Lewis later had some success in country music. If these issues occurred today, Jerry Lee Lewis would still be chastised and subject to varying degrees of anger . It would be different however, as the changing mores concerning marriage, divorce and sexuality would also come into play. It serves as a good example of how complex these currents can be. Once prominent ways of thinking are still around with varying levels of power, though not as they once were. There are twists and turns to society and culture that progress through the years; ideas/beliefs perished, rearranged and upheld as others join the fray.
There is much to point out about past happenings and moments of revelry and revelation. Life is rarely boring. The sign posts however do speak to some interesting shifts in our society and culture. Where will we end up is difficult to say.

Ya Know, It really hasn't anything to do with fitting in, it has to do with morals. Yes, years ago Marilyn Monroe was a scandal and Delilah before her and I would think there's been one or more since the beginning of time that someone can think of. And it still doesn't make it right, just because a certain amount of the public (sadly more then half) deems it acceptable to see such things on TV, or Movies, etc. doesn't deem them moral. In Europe there's nudity in commercials, hell there's nude beaches here. So just because a certain part of the people deem it okay doesn't mean its morally right, all that's saying is it's all right to some.
Every time my neighbors dogs start in, in the middle of the night for a hour long barking and whining tournament I want to go blow there brains out and put it to rest once and for all but, some may think that wrong, some will think it out right despicable and I'm sure my neighbor wouldn't like it . I don't do it, and not for any of those reasons.

Some people watch the Super Bowl today FOR the halftime show and the commercials, only because they know that particular airtime is the most expensive in the world. I do the same thing today I did twenty or thirty years ago. I disappear for a pee and a pipeful or a cigar. Half time shows are as meaningless to me now as they were then. I showed up for he game.

Don't feel bad, I never fitted in, don't watch sports of any kind. Oh, I use to enjoy drag racing and sometimes golf , now none of it interests me much, I watch documentaries, Nova, some History channel topics, etc. Not too many new movies even interest me anymore. But, I'll not miss a good Western from the 50' or 60's and sometimes 70's.
Is it because I'm old, no I don't think so, it's because I have standards and morals that my parents taught me that still live on today. That and I believe in something that is bigger then all of us put together. I used to do drag racing, but the heels slowed me down a lot. 😉
