So, I admit, perhaps I don't get Sutliff a fair shake. When I think of Sutliff, obviously aromatics come to mind, and I'm not particularly fond of most aromatics. However, I see they do make some non-aros. Are any of them worth checking out?

Yes indeed. Jim has reviewed some on TR.

515 RC-1 and 507C Virginia Slices are pretty good if you like Virginia's.

Is voodoo queen an aromatic? Check it out regardless- it's not your typical if it is considered aromatic.

Voodoo queen is a "dirty english." It has a very large spot in my cellar and there is always a jar in my smoking section. 515 rc is a good one, virginia slices, stoved black virginia, there are a few more, but I cant remember them.
Those 4 are all wonderful. You can mix the last 3 with great results as well

515 RC1, VA Slices, all the Crumble Kakes, this year's Cringle Flake was fantastic, Red Ribbon. I hear their English and Balkan offerings are pretty good. I like almost all of their straight blending tobaccos. Their mildly aromatic Burleys are pretty darn good - Match Ready Rubbed, J4, to name two.
As I understand it, Sutliff, previously Altadis, got kind of a bad rap for their overwhelming amount of goopy aromatics, but it seems in the past two years they've really started to up their game.

Its also fair to point out that although the blend recipes come from Joe Lankford, most of the celebrated Seattle Pipe Club blends are made in house by Sutliff, with a few of the aromatic ones being made by Lane. This is something I consider definite proof of the quality that Sutliff is capable of! I used to think the same thing about Sutliff, but they have certainly proven themselves recently.
As said before, give any of the crumble kakes a shot. Any of the SPC blends are worth trying as well, but Plum Pudding (and especially Special Reserve) and Hood Canal are my favorites.

I need to try out the crumble cakes. I have some Plum Pudding Special Reserve, and though the taste is nice, I can't get it to burn well in any of my pipes, even after thoroughly drying. Same with Mississippi River.

I'm thinking I might try adding in some Five Brothers Burley... it does wonders for a few aromatic blends I've mixed it with.

I am also a Sutliff avoider due to the chemical aromatics that everyone seemed to dump on me when I was just starting out. Crumble Kake Red Virginia is quite good for us red VA lovers. I haven't smoked much else of their other newer non aro offerings.

Almost forgot - Edward G Robinson is a terrific mild lat/aro.

I like Sutliff's Ready Rubbed and Flying Dutchman Match blends. Their Pumpkin and Christmas Spice blends are very nice too.

Went to McCranies (their Cornelius location) and picked up some Sutliff Va/Per Crumble Kake. Additionally, they had 6 or so varieties of Esoterica, so I picked up some Dunbar, Dorchester, and a tine of And So To Bed.
