Okay my fellow Patchers. Yes I have TAD! Now that we are clear on that. (And I blame all of youš) I am one of those, that does not smoke in the house. Only outside. And a propane heater in the garage is ok for everyday go to blends, but not for trying something new. This creates a problem for those with my condition, TAD. In the warm and balmy winters of Chicago, NOT. I will only step outside for a few minutes at a time to enjoy my pipe and tobacco. Obviously I donāt finish the bowl. So I have become well acquainted with DGT. Some tobaccos are better than others in this regard, but thatās an entirely different thread!
So with my aforementioned condition, this creates a problem. I buy all these new to me tobaccos over the winter, but I will not smoke them, until it is either warm enough to sit outside and smoke the first bowl entirely or I can go to a lounge and be inside and finish a bowl without freezing š„¶. So come springtime, here I am with 8 or 9 new tobaccos staring at me, and trust me Iām like a dog in a room full of fire hydrants and not knowing where to go first. Examples: The SPC Barrel aged series, some Ken Byron Blends. And the list goes on.
Anyone else here suffer from this ailment?
I know some of you may recall, I have a place in AZ I go to on occasion. To many opened tins I need to finish first before I start cracking anymore! Heck I have a 4 year old tin of Stonehaven there, that isnāt cellared to age. I just havenāt gotten to it!

This is the time of year to be down here ... what are you still doing in Chi-town?? Maybe get yourself a small, sample size clay or cob for those new blends. That way you can try your new blends in a shorty smoke.

Last month I got a taste on what you deal with, January in a Detroit hotel that is a non smoking facility sucks.
If I had to live in a climate like that, and didn't want to smoke in the house, I would set up a room with a dedicated smoking room..close off the ductwork and install a split system unit, and a door that is tight fitting (moreso than the traditional interior door, with a rubber sweep on the bottom)...that can be done fairly inexpensively.
Life is too short.

Life is too short. Oh trust me. We have a corner bedroom in the basement with full sized windows on both sides. As soon as this kid gets a real job and moves out, The cellar and I are moving in! Iāve already priced filtration systems and a new door Lol. Shouldnāt be a fight. She likes her little flavored cigars and hates standing outside. And she thinks the new recliner is staying in the family room. Haha

Having spent two winters at the Great Mistakes Navel Center I feel your pain. Glad you got in a short smoke and that clay pipe looks pretty cool.

I'm in Western NY and honestly, when I want to get out and smoke, I wander the streets until the wee hours lunting to my hearts content, damn the snow, and damn the cops who drive by me and look at me like I'm insane. Just my $0.02

Get s churchwarden. Then you can smoke inside while the pipe extrudes to the outside through a window.
