So I've got this Sav, lucite stem, gorgeous pipe. Love everything about it except for how it smokes. Specifically, it seems like the bowl is too wide, the draw is too free, and I have a difficult time moving enough air through it. It is quite difficult to get going. Am I packing it too loosely? What's the deal? Maybe I need to get the non-KS version?

Is it a 6 mm filter pipe? If so, are you using filters or do you have the adapter in place?

I have five 320’s, all good smokers. I find them at their best with crumble cake, cube cut, or thick flake blends. Pack more firmly than gravity feed. Enjoy.

The 320KS is basically a pot and the open draw is a selling point for most people. I have a couple of 9mm and I smoke them with no filter most of the time. If I do use a filter it's a balsa that doesn't restrict the draw. If you find it too open, it is a good candidate for a trade. The non KS version won't be any different. I would recommend a stack, such as a Slowroll Reformed replica. A Falcon might be a good choice too.

I find 99.9% of all Sav's to have to too open of a draw which in turn I'm unable to taste anything, like smoking air. As Ron said, I find someone who likes Sav's and trade it off. On the other hand, you'll NOT find my pipes to be as such, they have open draws but, not in excess as do the Sav's.

The Savinelli 320 KS and EX are my all time favorite pipes. I have not had any of the described problems. I have not had any problems. The EXs are preferred but a KS has never let me down.
It might be they just match how I want to smoke. And everyone wants to smoke a little differently I guess.
