I gotta go to Spokane tomorrow, and I hate going to Spokane. But Im gonna check out the pipe/cigar shop downtown while Im there. That way I can turn an unpleasant chore into a pleasant treasure hunt.

Why do you dislike Spokane?

Why do you dislike Spokane? I dislike traffic and copious amounts of people. There is nothing wrong with the city of Spokane itself...I just hate going to a city. Any city.

Woof! Can't imagine what you would do with a city like Miami...I'm from there (operant word is from) and I can't stand the place...way too many people and traffic is like an emergency evacuation of NY city.

Wow! Miami would fit inside the loop in Houston and the extra population would barely be noticed. Remember a few years when New Orleans moved here and disappeared?

To put it all in perspective, I live out on the far edge of a "city" of 550 people that is surrounded by wheat fields in the largest wheat-producing county in the entire US, Whitman County, Washington. Spokane is big enough. It gives me the gallopin' fantods.

Yeah, you're right about Houston...tried going through there on I-10...traffic backed up and was detoured...took me a couple hours to find I was headed to Galveston...or gall-stone as some called it.

That's the problem I am having. We still want to move to the country, maybe not so far north, but we hate the traffic. We may never find a house as nice as the one we wanted, but we will try again. When there are so many people it's hard to appreciate any of them. The town we were looking in had 2k population and was close to 2 lakes and lots of farms and ranches.

Well, I can't talk. I live in a suburb of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, home to 7.7 million people. It is larger than the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined. But imagine all those people wanting to live together; it must be the friendliest place on earth!

In my former life I worked in Houston a good bit. The office was on the west side in the energy corridor. I usually flew into Hobby and took the loop around. I swear I saw more cars on that trip than I saw all year in my little town. And that was 14 years ago. Last I was there, around 7 years ago, I couldn’t believe how the traffic had increased. I can’t imagine what it must be like now. I much prefer rural America!

When we moved here 15 years ago it was a small town.

I was looking at the population of the different states, and 33 of the 50 have smaller populations than Harris County. This might be the source of my problem.

Well, I found the pipe shop. Probably the best B&M pipe shop Ive been in. I bought a Savinelli Trevi P320 pipe and 2 Padron cigars. Pictures to come later...

I wanted a change from my usual rustic freehands, something smooth and classic.

Looking good, I keep eyeballing the 614 in that same finish. Looks like your trip paid off!
