Since I am back to smoking, I am also back to tinkering with pipes. Digging through the box of "stuff", I came across two pipes which were part of various lots I bought from Ebay in which I was interested in one or two pipes and tossed the rest in the box.
Two pipes have a metal lining in the bowl, around the sides and on the bottom. There is clear evidence that these were smoked but I'm curious what to expect if I clean them and smoke them?

I wouldn't expect much, I had one like that as a teenager, wasn't for tobacco. The metal imparts a nasty taste, just my 2 cents..

If you don’t know what the metal is DON’T I agree with oldcajun...don't...no telling what the metal is and what it could do to your health.

It would be a very bad smoke and a cheap pipe. Chuck it.

Does your metal pipe resemble this? If is does, it could be an Aristocob pipe that used corn cob inserts.

There's always pipes like those around on the street markets here during holiday season. Usually the inserts barely keep the wood around them from burning

Ok, I may have been a little off. I don't think that one was intended for what I insinuated. I believe it is simply decorative, I can't tell what type of wood it is, but I imagine it won't hold up well to actual use.

I vote decorative only.
If you post that turd of a pipe one more time Charlie I am going to contact the ugly pipe police and have it taken from you.

Don't smoke pipes with metal bowls when especially you don't know their provenance. Better safe than sorry.
