Essentially, streaming is just watching or listening to something via the internet. One if the most popular streaming services out there is Netflix. You can install the Netflix app on a smartphone, smart TV, computer, or use a Roku like Charlie mentioned. Roku is a fantastic little device that is fairly inexpensive and allows you to access a ton of different streaming services through your TV.
For streaming music, I like Spotify, you can start with a free account and listen to nearly anything you can imagine.

Larry, instead of getting DVDs in the mail and slapping them in a VCR, instead you belong to a service that let you see movies over the internet to your tv. I have a Samsung tv, the newer ones are called smart TVs, they can get on the internet for you. Let’s take Amazon, it’s on the Samsung called an app, if you’re a Prime member for Amazon, free shipping, Streaming movies, cost about 120$ for the year, you can stream movies. Click your tv on, click on the Amazon app, you have to have an internet connection and viola , you cruise thru the movies you want to see, some are new releases, you pay to see them, it’s a great thing to have, lay up in bed and see first run movies. Get your son when he’s in to run you thru it.

Youtube TV is a solid option if anyone is looking to get away from cable or satellite TV.

I just put cable in after not having it for six or so years. They are still showing the same movies they were when I cancelled it. I have used streaming services but really each one only offers so much premium content. I can grow tired of Netflix in about 90days or less. There are free movies to stream from YouTube that pretty much matches the content available on paid cable movies. In fact there is plenty of free content to be had without paying for a streaming service. The main advantage over antenna TV is the lack of non stop commercials and not so much the content. Me I do not watch a lot of TV but the wife enjoys it and I do like seeing first run movies but that is premium content that you pay extra for anyway. To me it could become a way to spend more money than just leaving good enough alone.

Youtube is free but you have to endure commercials. Newer TVs can usually connect via WiFi, but you have to set that up. Some TVs come with apps for Netflix and Prime already installed. I prefer a wired connection, so my TV and Apple TV are connected via ethernet. What TV service and TV do you have now?
