Greatness has come and gone. Jazz pianist extraordinaire, McCoy Tyner, passed away today or it was announced.
So many performances, so many recordings. He was playing somewhere in the background of most of my life.
RIP, Sir.

While not a jazz enthusiast...he is good even to this untrained ear.

I was not familiar. And watch the above video. Definitely some awesome stuff. That bass player is wonderful. Loaded into my Pandora and that’s what I’m listening to now. Gin and tonic, pipe. Jazz. Warm weather and an Arizona sunset. To heck with world issues for a bit

Just spoke of him when discussing the Coltrane post in the other thread. A truly influential figure, inspired me to take up jazz piano too.
He'll be remembered! R.I.P.

I'm sorry I didn't know of him sooner, he's wonderful! Jazz piano is not typically my "go to", but I love almost all music (what I'm excepting is rap, if that's even music. But even then, there's pieces I can appreciate.) I'll be listening to this guy though.
I know the sense of loss of an admired artist, even though you've never met. Sorry to hear.

I had not heard of him before, but I have now and I like his music. I never knew Beethoven, Bach, or Mozart, but I can still enjoy their music.

One of the few alphabet network shows I like listening to, CBS’s Sunday Morning is good if I can get my butt out of bed in time...they mentioned him with a few others.
We will see a lot of great talent exit the stage soon, it is in the numbers.
