Yesterday I had the pleasure of making the drive down to east Texas to meet up with Ron, rdpipes, and pick up my new lovat. I didn't get to stick around as long as I wanted to, but we got the chance to shoot the shite for a few, and I got the honor of looking at not only Ron's impressive personal collection, but also all of the available pipes on his website, up close and personal. Wow. Our business is not concluded sir. If I would've had a bag full of money, there wouldn't be any pipes available on his website. Anyhow, my lovat is absolutely stunning. The blast is gorgeous, the stain and the cumberland stem match synergistically, and the tamarind inlay is the icing on the cake. This beauty would be just as much at home in a suit as it is in my flannel shirt. Weighing in at 44g, but boasting a bowl that is 7/8" by 2", this bad boy is a clencher's dream come true. If that wasn't enough, the bit is fashioned with a bit of curve to it, not the standard flat bit I am used to on factory pipes. The curve is incredibly comfortable, and helps it sit just right in my teeth. The draw is amazing. Not as restricted as my factory pipes, not quite that full-on, wide-open, draw of a cob, just right. The tobacco burns clean to the bottom, something I had decided was a myth. It's clear that Ron understands what it means to engineer a fantastic smoker, and a gorgeous piece of art at the same time. So there you have it. If you've been on the fence about jumping on one of Ron's pipes, I say go for it. The value is insane. I might not own a million dollar pipe, but this beauty smokes like a million bucks, that's for damn sure.

Eh, a little jealous of that personal visit! Good to hear you're already enjoying the pipe.

This is what I've been preaching...you can not go wrong with one of Ron's incredible beauties! I've got 2 and a 3rd on the way...and I'm a guy who doesn't need any pipes as I have been giving away some of the beauties that I have collected over the years....but give away a Ron pipe? NOT a chance as long as I am living!
You can spend more money on a pipe, but you cannot find a better pipe than that which Ron creates. Just visit his site...and keep a wash cloth handy to wipe the drool off your face.

I always sing the praises of Ron and his really special pipes...but I don't want to tell you that the pipes that Cramps puts out are not wonderful pipes, too. They are different from Ron's pipes and they are special but in a different way...both are excellent investments!
