A friend gave me a Nespresso Vertuo with milk frother last weekend as a gift and I must say, it is the best cup of coffee I have ever had!
You can make anything that Starbucks makes for roughly $1 per cup/mug. Prior to this machine, I may have had a grand total of 2 tablespoons of sugar in coffee in my life but I am amazed at the delicious things I can make with this machine.
Anybody have one?
What do you like about it?

I'm not a fan of coffee pods. I prefer to grind my own beans. However I know there are a lot of folks who sing the praise of Nespresso over Keurig. Several big European espresso machine makers manufacture models specifically too take the Nespresso pods.

Yep, I have tried for years to find a Keurig pod that made high end coffee and while I have found a couple I like, there was never a really "great" cup of coffee.
The Nespresso allows me to make coffee as good, or better, than Starbucks, coffee, latte, crappuccino, double hazelnut, extra this or that. It's $1 per cup vs 30 cents for a Keurig cup but it's worth it.

Nespresso > Keurig. By far.
That said, I'm a pour-over guy.

We have both a Nespresso and a Keurig at work. The Keurig is relegated to the multitude of tea's we have back stocked while the Nespresso is used exclusively for Espresso drinks. I love it! It is the only pod type machine I would ever own at home, and will once I have freed up the money, (AKA stop spending on other hobbies)

Had a Nespresso for 10+ years. Tried it for the first time while on the Champs dans Paris, they were just starting to roll the brand out. Never looked back. It's great product.
(Starbucks sucks)

Love my Nespresso. I've been hooked on Cafe Con Leche ever since I lived next to a Cuban cafeteria in Tampa.
I started out with a Vertuo then went to the Original line. Far more espresso choices in the Original line (even though I mostly only get two different kinds, Khazar and the decaf Ristretto).

Are there any significant differences in the cup of coffee?

I do not use a frother (neither would the Cubans on an authentic CCL).
You need to at least boil the milk, which I do in a microwave.
The true secret is sweetened condensed milk. So from the top: boiled milk + cafe + sweetened condensed milk + sugar is the way to an authentic CCL
Confession: I just do the milk and coffee, adding sugar makes it too sweet and I'm too fat for the condensed milk except on special occasions.

There are lots of different varieties in the Original line, I count close to 40 right now.
And there are definitely differences in them... but my favorite is the .70 Kazaar...

There's something about the ritual of grinding beans and making the coffee that I like. I don't notice the difference in coffee. It all tastes the same to me, but that's maybe because I adulterate it with loads of milk.

In order to get a decent machine that does espresso grind, you need to spend over 1,000 US. Nespresso makes a surprisingly good quality espresso for much much less than the Italian machines. I do like a occasional french press on the weekend.

I use a French Press daily and when I want expresso I use the Moka pot. If someone gifts me a Nespresso and it works better than Keurig I might use it.

I have always used a french press when I wanted a special cup of coffee, I use sugar in the raw for a little extra caramel flavor. The Nespresso makes a much richer cup of coffee with loads of crema with the push of a button and no clean-up. The milk frother is just icing on the cake....

I can't tell one coffee from the other with a Kuerig, no matter what I bought. All taste the same, to me. I have a frother & nuke milk in micro w/sugar when I want a Cuban. Or other

Fresh ground beans and steam costs less and makes better coffee. Anything with a POD is not cost effective for a avid coffee drinker.

I've found that coffee is just like anything else we indulge ourselves in such as cigars and pipe tobacco; if you make two different coffees in your Keurig and try them back and forth you will notice a huge difference but if you drink one one day and the other the next, you won't notice much difference.
If I share cigars with a friend where we trade back and forth, I can pick up worlds of difference and can also hone in on subtle flavors which I would never have noticed otherwise.

I think it's matter of convenience, I "think" the Nespresso can make a cup of coffee that is as good or better than my french press because of the crema. I "know" I like the fact that I push a button, wait 30 seconds, and walk away with my coffee as opposed to a multi-step 10 minute process to make the coffee and an additional couple minutes to clean up the press.

The Krups logged in at three minutes brew time. I have used a espresso machine of one type or another for many years and every last one of them makes a mess. I do not care for the French press method it is to much trouble for me and it also leaves a mess. The Krups can give a 1/2 line of crema at around 12oz but the last 4oz ounces of sputtering steam dissolve it into the mix. Starbucks gets a bad rap the house coffee blows chunks and the espresso roast is burned. But they offer many types of coffee to choose from. Us city folks are spoiled being able to find just about anything we want to brew and not limited to Folgers or Maxwell House. This place used to have a location down the road from me. A amazing place for POD lovers coffeeicon.com/store-locations/. I still have this outfit down the road shopcopan.com/. The bad thing about drinking good coffee is it spoils you.

We buy Community coffee at Sam's. It's cheap and satisfying.
