I don't have to tell you that this high tech world runs on numbers.Every body wants a number.I called the pharmacy this morning to renew a prescription. The computer told me what number to push. Then it wanted a prescription number..The number that I want to talk about though is called A1C..Every 4 months I go to the doctor. She does blood work and tells me my A1C number..That tells me how sugar has been in my blood in the previous 3 months. If it gets up to 8 I'm in trouble..Mine was almost there but it's coming down.Last time it was just under 7.In order to bring it and my weight down(another number) I've been watching my diet and walking a lot..I've lost about 30 pounds. I've still got a lot to lose..Now what brought this post on?.This morning my son brought in some cup cakes.I got one to eat.My wife said don't eat the icing it's full of sugar..I grew up on a farm..Now I'm living in the city in a world full of numbers, and I can't even eat what I want to.

It's actually run on 1's and 0's
But I digress....
The world is moving at a pace that's crazy. The digital world is so complicated.

You can eat what you want to eat....or you can be around for your kids and your wife. Which is more important...I don't need for you to answer...I already know...just a reminder (yeah, I know...not my business). Seeing what my brother is going through...just breaks my heart...he went in for a simple stint and hasn't come out in almost a year...one thing after another...he is 81...not much left to live for, or so he thinks.

I take insulin and i find that sweets are best eaten with a meal and in moderation. If you are going to eat bread don't waste your time with the stuff that comes in bag instead find the good stuff. You can have snacks but make them small. If it fits in the palm of your hand you can have it. Count those carbs. Insulin for me was a godsend giving me much better control of A1c.

It sucks having to go without the things you love. I would find that hard. I hope I don't end up that way, but I can see it happening.

I'd have to agree with you about sweets. I've been a type 2 diabetic for the last 20 years and I also take insulin 3 times a day. One cupcake along with a meal that is geared towards your diabetic needs would be acceptable. Anything in moderation along with your diabetic meds and excorcise are all good for diabetic control.
