Kenny grew up in the Houston area, and lived down the street from my youngest sister's husband. They were buddies as kids into their teens. They hunted together and had a lot of good times. He was so poor that he would come over to my BILs house and his mom would fix an extra dozen biscuits because he was always starving. I was a fan from the First Edition and always thereafter.

Quite a great talent, I always got the impression that in spite of all the success, he never really let it go to his head.
He had great success with some crossover hits, but his roots were firmly in the country, Ruby don’t take your love to town, You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille, etc....

I have always liked all of his music. Always wanted to see him live in concert but just never was able to make it to one. He will be missed, but at least his music will live on.

"The gossip of Madison County died with child And although your skin was black You were the one that didn't turn your back On the hungry white child with no name, Reuben James" Great song writer and a constant throughout life ... RIP Kenny
