I opened up the cabinet that holds my jarred tobacco and I was taken aback...Mold? All these white looking jars are Stokkebye flakes from 4/2014...I popped a lid off a jar of luxury twist, and the lid popped 2 feet in the air. The white looking substance was moisture from the flake, but there was no mold...I smoked some of the flakes last night and wow....what a differecnce 3 years does for the twist! I figure that since after 3 years there is no mold, don't worry about it? i could empty each jar and dry it out and repack, but I don't like the idea of removing the moisture...I would hate to dry out the tobacco only to need to rehydrate later. The noticeable moisture disappeared after opening..

Were they jarred in April? Was it particularly hot and humid at the time?

I wouldn't worry too much Charlie. There is moisture in the flakes no matter what, this is just some condensation as a result. I don't think any more likely to mold than a moist flake would be.

Were they jarred in April? Was it particularly hot and humid at the time? Yeah, but the jars were bone dry, and here in the desert humidity is very low in April. I noticed that in a large jar with Pirate Kake, it looked like I had a cloud in the jar... part of the same phenomenom, I reckon. That lid blew off like it had a Co2 charge...my bulldog bolted from the room. I won't monkey with the tobacco, but it won't let lounging dogs lie.😉

Just let em be, with the changes in seasons and changes in the outside weather such as temperatures rising and falling along with the atmospheric pressures rising and falling what is happening is natural and nothing to worry about. Heck sometimes you will even be able to hear some jar lids pop again and again as the ambient temperature and air pressure changes. Just a natural thing.

Mine are doing the same as yours. The LBF are even turning blacker a few days after opening the jar.
