I guess we will still have the Wilke blends. That just became a very valuable property. Not to mention SWR and Prince Albert. 🤮😭

I have 10 choices written down & all are grandfathered. At my creaky age, plenty to choose from. No longer any interest in "expanding horizons".

Having a substantial cellar solves all problems for me...got enough to last my lifetime and perhaps a second person as well.

Informative article. I can only think the MacBaren's lines and Peterson lines are quite safe. Anything that's been around for a long time relatively unchanged is also safe. So many of the new blends we've seen in recent years will have to go through the process. And say goodbye to limited run small batch tobaccos.

MacB’s Burley Flake and Latakia Flake entered the market post 2007 if I recall? The earliest reviews I see on TR for ODF is 2012.

A good time to stock up on any favorites, when they are gone, they are gone.

I'm upset by this. I know it's a long time coming but as someone who surprisingly relies on the US market, I'm at a point where I just wanted this administration to remove one regulation and they've let me down. So booo to the FDA on this one thing. Booo!!!!

A lot (most) of the Wilke recipes are over a hundred years old. If John can use that history, he will be in good shape.

The idea that ODF could disappear is tragic, guess I'm buying more today.

When I met John at the New York show last year he said he has 400+ blends that are in compliance with the new regulations. Who knows what he can roll out and I'm pretty interested to see it. I enjoy many of his blends already.

Honestly, with the state of the union right now, you would think we could just let people smoke what they want for a few more weeks. Better they order post-2007 tobacco online than go out looking for TP at Walmart right now anyway

I have 14 blends that I have whittled down to on my "Keep In Stock At All Times List". Of those, 10 are easily accessible, and I am pretty sure they are all pre-2007. I'm ok if a lot of these go by the wayside. It would suck for the industry as a whole, but it won't hurt me that much. Cheers!

It would require an act of congress to overturn it and presented to the current executive to sign off on it. The House leader will not let that happen.

Edited for clarification. I'm upset by this. So booo to the FDA on this one thing. Booo!!!! To be fair, it was enacted and signed into law by the last congress and signed by the last executive (when they controlled both houses and the presidency). The new guys had time to sort this out and the current FDA could either alter the standards (they did so to cover the vaping market) or push them back (They did it before after all). So I'm sticking with Boooooo!

A reintroduction would be considered a new blend. When Murray's stopped producing the Dunhill blends and STG brought them back post 2007, they were on the chopping block.
