Intel has a 10th gen laptop CPU that just broke the 5GHz barrier, and they're i7s. They are 6 or 8-core CPUs boosted to 5.1GHz on a single core.
If you've got the bucks, there is an 8-core i9-10980HK hitting 5.3GHz, and yes, it's unlocked.
On the lower end, they have a pair of i5s that top out at 4.5 or 4.6, then three i7s at 5.0 or 5.1, and the flagship i9-10980HK at 5.3.
Maybe by the time Flight Simulator is released, we'll be able to run FSX! Grr.

Well, I wouldn't mind becoming an Intel guy, but since I am a Dunhill guy, I am also an AMD guy. Guyception.

And I'm diehard Intel. Even if Threadripper is currently the CPU King, I simply refuse to reward AMD for years of crappy GPU drivers. I remember. Not that I'd turn down this $21,000 64-core Threadripper with twin Titan RTXs and it's $5,500 case.

I am not going to make the innuendo I was planning to make expressing how sexy that picture really is.

It's literally called the Compensator by the guys that made it. The 20 minute build video is here:

IBM has the 5nm tech working, but Intel says that they won't be able to compete for leadership with the 7nm AMDs for 2 years. I've only been retired for 3 years and everything has changed. I think that the company will stick with the Intel processors because, it is business, after all. Payroll business doesn't have a sense of humor.

Well, don't tell 'em about D-Wave's $15 million dollar annealers. And that's a fact. Here's a pic of the Compensator without makeup. And yes, still sexy as hell. You know how big those eight sticks of RAM are. The big square between them is the Threadripper. It's HUUGE!!!
