This is an interesting pipe that I cannot find out what it actually is. Did Dr Grabow ever do a colt/pug type pipe? This beauty only weighs an ounce. One side is marked Imported Brueyere and there are no other markings. I keep thinking the stem isn't original but the fit is perfection. Clearly a Grabow spade. The outer bowl diameter is a hair larger than a quarter and the inner diameter is a hair smaller than a nickle. The depth of the bowl is an inch. Sweet little pocket pipe that looks to have been smoked once. Would love to find out some information or background on it. Link to pictures: postimg.cc/gallery/jPBVd4r

I like small pipes a lot. I predominantly smoke, I guess, a size 2 or maybe smaller. That one is an interesting little bugger. Perfect bowl size, as far as I'm concerned. I don't know my pipe history, but the stem does look like it fits perfectly. Did you buy it?

That's a great wee pipe. I'm with Jason and yourself...I like a small pipe too. Sometimes it's perfect to have a quick pipe before moving on to other things.
Smoke it with joy.

Yes I bought it but I am happy to move it along. I figured with the spade stem the pipe should have a Dr Grabow stamp somewhere on it. That is what puzzles me about the stem but the fit is just too good. Maybe it was a prototype?

Yes, this is one of the shapes they made during their Chicago years, before relocating to NC. I had one of these, stamped as a Grabow...might even still have one somewhere. Your guess may be right...could've been an early prototype. Or, it could've slipped into a factory worker's pocket and gone without a stamp. Or, could have a flaw where they didn't put their name on it. Or, could have been made and intended for someone else (a tobacco shop for instance) and nobody put their name on it. These are just some of the explanations for Grabow oddities...of which I have several in my collection. ;-)

I've got Grabow examples with just a spade and ZERO stamping...others like yours with minimal stamping. I've even had them with no spade at all...but based on the shape and finish, I knew it was Grabow.

Congrats, that's nice little pipe. Used to have one just like it. Was a Supreme and shape stamped 9578a. Black spade on Bakelite.

Nice - Thanks joeman! Did any of yours have a name or line on them? I am fairly sure mine was a Grabow "DeLuxe" line.
