JD at The Country Squire Pipe shop has spoken highly of them, and some of their tobacco's also.

Good pipes across the whole price range. Unfortunately for me, mostly filter pipes, but they do do filters well.

A very old German brand from the city of Nuremberg. Some of their pipes have a very fancy design sometimes (or ridiculus) but the quality is great. You may have to work your way around the filter stems but you can use an adapter after all. I would recommend them!

I am one of the weird Americans that actually prefer filtered pipes, so that is a plus for me! Since there is German in my ancestry I should probably have a German pipe, lol.

So you´re German at heart! Don´t let your fellow countrymen fool you, smoking with filters is good.

Oh I won't, especially with hubby watching me like a hawk, lol. I tend to embrace the Celtic roots of my family, lol. My grandmother is the reason I hold the opinion that Germans and Scots should never marry and procreate, lol. Her father was a Zickafoose, her mother a Kincaid She was 4 foot 11 inches and struck fear in the hearts of all who knew her. But then I married a Viking, so that's kind of self-defeating.... (he also has Scottish and German ancestry, so I'm beginning to see a pattern here.)

I had a sample of the Trüllerie recently and found it a very mild mixture that I would easily smoke in the morning.

My very first pipe was a Vauen. Most of their pipes accept filters, but you can smoke them without as well.
I bought each of the Lord of The Rings officially licensed pipes that Vauen made years ago. Gandalf, Bilbo, Aragorn, Gimli. If you like their churchwardens, try out the Auenland line. After the LOTR license expired, Vauen made their own versions of the "fantasy" churchwardens.

The best Vauen pipes are the 3 digit models with the Dunhill like dot on their stems.
