Wife and I were talking this morning about WWII and were oil field personnel exempt from service , looking about I found a very interesting true story of 42 Roughnecks from Oklahoma who drilled wells in Sherwood Forest in secret. American expertise was critical in extracting the oil needed for a war. It’s a book I found out, and ordered it along with an only paperback copy.

I read about this, but it was only a paragraph in a story about other things that Americans did in England during the war, mostly the Ghost Army. A great many people who never thought they would be unemployed are out of work in the oil industry today. The production companies are having to pay for people to take the oil off their hands. We need to get back to burning 🔥 asap!
