Hello from San Jose, CA. I have been smoking pipes on and off since 1981. Discovered this forum from a smokingpipes.com blog. I am on a couple of other pipe smoking forums unde the same name. I look forward to spending time here. Cheers!

Welcome to the patch Marty! I lived in the bay area for 25 years, lived in Mt. View, Sunnyvale, Newark, and then Hollister before I moved to Arizona in 2005. Is Mission pipe shop your local B&M? www.missionpipe.com/Good people I am told, I used to get my tobacco from the (long gone) Tinderbox at the San Antonio shopping center in Mt. View, last time I was back there I stopped at Edwards kitty corner to the old San Antonio shopping center. www.edwardspipelosaltos.com/At one time they both shared websites, it looks like they might have split off?

When was the last time you visited? It's a completely different place now. Huge amount of congestion and crazy cost of living. Yes Mission Pipes is my local B&M. I enjoy going there from time to time. The cigar crowd is their primary clientele these days, but they have a good selection of pipes and tobaccos. Edwards Pipes is now a single location near the corner of El Camino Real and San Antonio Rd. Their pipe selections has really dwindled over the years. Cigars are more their pimply business.

Not that long ago. There has been a radical cultural shift since I landed there in 1979. A lot of magic was lost, I will not return anytime soon, a funeral or two to attend in the future, but after that, no.

Yo char - welcome. What was that pipe shop that had a lot of tins? Always meant to get there, but they closed a couple of years ago. Too bad, since my youngest son lived a few blocks away before I got back into pipes.

There was a smoke shop called Smokers Paradise that had a lot of tins on Union Avenue in San Jose near the corner of Camden Ave. If that's not it, do you have the name of the street it was on or the area name?

I lived on Rengstorff just south of 101 by a block (1979), later lived in Rock Street in a townhouse. How I wish I had not partied back then and bought real estate... the property values now are astronomical.

I went to Tiny Tots preschool there in 1974, I believe. Where did the time go!
