Though I would never own a bulldog, that is some great carving! It's aesthetically one of my favorite shapes. I will likely do at least one Rhodesian as well for this endeavor. Thank you for the compliment!

Thank you for the compliment! They are a very popular shape, I just prefer more organic flowing shapes. Bulldogs just feel too geometric to me.

The lines on that bulldog are clean and the shape is well defined.👍

It might be my first, and last. They just don't do it for me. adui way to go!

Well executed "dog". Looks like you nailed the keel. Keep up the good work. I was actually worried I'd brought the keel line too sharp The taper of the bowl essentially stops at the beginning of the shank and goes straight down to the keel. For that part I essentially copied the Kaywoodie I have from Uncle Scrooge.

Impressive. You seem to be getting into this real fast. Thank you! Now that I have some of the proper tools I'm finding my old woodworking skill isn't so far gone as I thought.

Thank you Dewayne! Glad you like it. I gotta say it looks GOOD on you!
As for the Bulldog, its not finished yet. It's my first pipe I used shellac on and I am having a time of it getting the finish right. (Of course I am a bit of a perfectionist so..)

Great work on that bulldog. You seem to be enjoying this pipe-making journey that you're on. Very much so! Though I confess this shellac thing is Vexing me. I've decided to rub it out with thinner till it is even because I didn't get the application right. Then buff to a nice shine. If that doesn't work I will have to strip the finish entirely and redo it.

And it's finished for better or worse That's for better, for sure. Do you still only have hand tools or have you splashed out on a lathe?
