First review, enjoyed this tobacco very much. I am a fan of EU style flakes and Red Hunt does not disappoint. The addition to Orientals into the mix makes this a dynamic and unique smoke.
Fist 1/3 was a stronger version of Sir Johns Flake. Berry and vanilla. I like this style of flake so this suits me so far. The orientals peak their head out at the very end of the first 1/3, barely. Smooth and easy smoke in the Danish? style.
Second third. The berry and vanilla is fading and the Oriental are drawing near even strength. A little perfume, mineral and earthy. Touch of lemon. Not picking up the perique at all, very little spice so far. There's a whole lot going on with this stuff. The berry/vanilla is an equal participant still.
Last third the perique finally make an appearance adding body and spice. Orientals becomes the main player at this point. The last third is fuller, but still not strong or biting. Retains it's Danish? quality. The berry, vanilla, earthy, touch of lemon is still there but more as an accompanying player.
All in all, a damn fine weed right out of the can if you like this style. Definitely a Cousin of Ausberry, F&T and Dan style of flake.

Sounds like a keeper. Nice review too. You should do some more.

Interesting, I've not seen any added flavorings mentioned anywhere else.

Interesting, I've not seen any added flavorings mentioned anywhere else. I will be the first to admit that I am clueless and not terribly experienced with Orientals. BUT as my father used to say..."often wrong but seldom in doubt". It's an opinion and worth every single penny you paid for it. There is a minor fruity quality underling that's similar to a sugarless bubblegum that I cannot pinpoint. I am very interested if others impressions are similar to mine.

I know some orientals like straight Yenidje have tea like notes while others have a sort of incense.

Good review. Strong Orientals without Latakia in the mix tend to carry an incense like quality to them. Sort of like Lakelands, but different.
