I'm planning to place an order with Wilke's soon and was wondering if anyone who has a better grasp on their offerings can suggest something akin to Match Holiday? Holiday has become my go-to aromatic but I'm sure there's something similar using better component tobaccos. More than anything, as I'm planning on ordering several tobaccos from Wilke's, I'd really appreciate suggestions on which one of their aromatic or american offerings could fit the bill. Maybe Surburg's Bestmake? Thanks in advance.

Excuse my ignorance, is Match Holiday no longer being produced?

pipesandcigars.com has a tobacco called Match Holiday, but it's a Lat blend, and not an aromatic. I'm not sure what flavors you're looking for...cheaper than Wilke's though. Sorry I couldn't be of any help, just not sure what the Match Holiday you like even is.

I smoke a lot of Bestmake and keep a half pound on hand. Which Holiday are you referring to, there are several on TR. You can always call John at Wilke and ask him. Wilke has many English and light aro and crossover blends. John says that he has over 400 blends that are grandfathered. I don't know if I can send you a sample. I haven't tried shipping to Mexico.

I'm thinking of Sutliff's Match Holiday. I know it's still available but since international shipping is hassle I don't want to place two distinct orders. I'm looking for sweetness, a little chocolate, a little vanilla and marshmallow flavor that Sutliff Match Holiday provides.

Thanks Ron. I'm looking for something like a better version of Sutiff's Match Holiday with its sweetness and marshmallow flavor (a little less sweet would be fine as well) but just enough body to keep things. I'll try to email John Brandt per your suggestion.

That's not Bestmake. Call John and tell him. He will let you know if he has anything close. Peretti has some similar blends too, but they may or may not be easy to talk to. Depends on who answers the phone. Are you saying that you don't want any latakia?

Oh, McClelland's Holiday Spirit is fantastic! 😜 Russ at pipes and cigars has several blends along those lines. He's on Facebook, maybe you can message him?

Excuse my ignorance, is Match Holiday no longer being produced? It's still around. It's just that with so many new rules on shipping between the US and Mexico I'd rather not place two separate orders and since everyone is raving about Crystal Palace, I want to give it a serious go. On another thread trailboss, I think, mentioned that Lane was going to cut back on many blends and there wasn't an official list yet so it might be worthwhile to find a Match Holiday replacement. I'm just at a point where finding Gawith blends like Skiff is becoming difficult and the Dunhill blends I really like haven't come back, so the idea of supply stability is really attractive to me. I mean, I basically smoke one oriental forward english and one cross-over aromatic (american) blend for weeks on end and I STILL can't easily settle on a specific blend! At this point I just need some advice on navigating the marketplace.

When Christmas rolls around try the C&D's Golden Days of Yore. That sounds like a high-end snack cake! I'll keep the suggestion in mind this Christmas. Last year I bought PS Luxury Twist which was a dull smoke but a crowd pleaser.

I talked to John Brandt who answered surprisingly quickly and was able to sort out whatever problems I had using the website. I asked him about what you told me with regards to Bestmake and he kindly suggested 71st St. I'm pretty excited!

I can't say that I have a personal relationship at any level with him but he strikes me as professional and to the point. I'm hoping that I end up really liking some of what I bought and become a repeat customer. I'm kind of ready to settle down on this issue.
