nothing is more depressing than to arrive at payday and realize you can't make any PAD or TAD purchases Middle of the month is the small paycheck, first of the month is decent because hubby has his disability check back, but we are so far behind from the last nine months that it will take a little while before we are back on our feet. The mechanic showed up at 8am this morning to haul the car to the garage -- it's been two months since it broke down, but we didn't have the $$$ to fix it. Was able to pay half last paycheck and the other half this week. It will be good to be back on the road, it's been so frustrating not being able to run the errands I need to in a timely manner. That's where the bulk of this paycheck is going. It hurts this week, but it will be worth it to be "independent" again.
SO, my coping strategy is to put in some Sherlock Holmes, have a good meal, attempt to pop open my bottle of Cafe Zinfindel and put a dent into the tobacco I have lining my shelf (I really don't need to add to my TAD right now, I really should work on putting a decent dent into what I have) and rework my Blue Room Briars wishlist AGAIN. Maybe I'll prioritize it....
I did order two new Nording Royal Flush stems for more variety, so that will have to count for PAD this time around, lol.

My father always told me to take care of my needs before my wants. These days I'm living on a pension and the needs seem to far out weigh the wants.I have more pipes than I need though and I never run out of tobacco so I guess I'm doing OK.

Yes it is hard to try to get the things done on a limited budget. I also am facing this since being forced to retire my in come is about 1/4 what it was. Thankfully I have enough pipes and tobacco for a while. Lady M things will work out for you and your hubby.

thank you! yes, i am sure things will get back to normal, sometimes being patient is hard. But it is often rewarding, so we will wait and see how it works out.

But I have food & drink & a home & a smoke , so I am thankful for small mercies, but man does not live by bread alone & it makes my blood boil πΏππΉ

I know what your going through. I've been disabled for 26 years. Trying to "Live" off SSDI for most of that time(more like exist). We are finally getting on our feet now that I've been declared 100% service related disabled. In 2008 the VA decided that a certain types of heart disease were "Agent Orange" related. I found out this in 2012 and applied for compensation. Over two years later I was declared 70% by the VA. Now, not having died,I'm at 100%. We finally have an adequate income. Certainly not rich by any means. All that time it was "Stealing from Peter to pay Paul". Doing without our wants to fill our needs, and not always having enough to do that. You all have our best wishes that things will improve for y'all.
