Review of GL Pease's Spark Plug
i finally had the opportunity to try a bowl in a Preben Holm. I have smoked close to 100 lbs. of Gaslight since the first day it was released - so I was very curious to say the least to check this oe out. The big brownie was magnificent in aroma. Wow! If only it tasted as good as it smelled as a bar. I
The pipe has had pretty much nothing but gaslight in it, so there was no cavendishor cherry or vanilla in there. I enjoyed spark plug a lot but no where near what gaslight is to me - TheHoly Grail!
The bottom latakia to me was missing for my tastes; however as a blend of his it was really nice. The creosote hint IS the latakia but as I said - just not enough for me. The tobacco was quite complex in a good way. There was an interesting mid flavor profile - early it was a hint of maybe waxy caramel or just caramel - I find it left something on my tongue: and then I got this very subtle licorice or anise flavor. The more i smoked it, the more this also reflected the higher end of the flavor profile too. Spark plug was a much more mild smoke overall compared to Gaslight - but if I had to i would smoke this. Greg came up with a serious English blend and it was the nicest i have had (other than Gaslight) since Balkan Sobranie white label and especially Balkan Sobranie 759 Black Label went away. There is no other that compares with it. I probably will have some more around as a variety to Gaslight; however, gaslight is my GO TO smoke. I was hoping in anticipation that this may be better than Gaslight and would be my number one, however; it is not. For me it is #2 in my books for my tastes - and that IS a compliment to him. I also have been smoking a roughly 50/50 mix of spark plug and gaslight which is really nice. I believe that this is greg's 2nd best for my tastes. Abingdon which I had smoked a lot prior to Gaslight coming out was bit too spicy and bitey. Spark Plug is very nice and smooth and has a lot of wonderful tastes and a nice aroma when smoked. Just not the intense taste and aroma as it is in bar form prior to the light. I give it 5 stars. However; Gaslight is still and will be my #1 bland. Great Job Greg!!!
addendum: As of this writing i have smoked a 2 oz. tin of Spark Plug
