My better half turned 63 yesterday, and I'll be 66 on Tuesday. At our age we've got at least one of everything we'll ever need, so for her birthday ,I gave her 15 lbs of gummy bears...she loves em, and she was overjoyed ; she'll be looking like an old farmer, with a chaw in the jaw, for a long time to come. She just asked what I wanted ,and my reply was ,Carter Hall. She can pick it up at Kroger{like I did the gummy bears}and be in ,and out like a flash. When things are more "normal", we'll go out for a nice meal, or take a day trip, but for now ,Gummy bears and Carter Hall are just fine.

Kids are always asking me , What you want for your Birthday Dad, I tell them I got all that I want, write me a one page letter telling me how the world is treating you. Disclaimer I have not received one letter. Kids nowadays don’t like to write or maybe they don’t like their old man?

Yes, Happy Birthday to both!
My parents are like that. Both are in their 70's, they've been married 54 years and their birthdays are 11 days apart. They often go out to eat...at Hardy's...for a breakfast sandwich. 😊
That way they're done with the festivities in time for a nap.

Thanks for all the good wishes ,guys, and Dwane, Hardee's breakfast sounds like a fine idea; I even have coupons to back me up ... All week , Sharon's been telling people she's thirty-six{ 36 vs 63 }but no matter how I say it, I'm still 66...oh, it's 43 years for us!

you've kept it simple...I like that. Carter Hall would do me well for my birthday. That reminds me, I need to order my tin of tobacco for Father's day.

Happy birthday to you and your wife!
My wife and I are celebrating our 38th anniversary next week and we are in the same boat. With the Covid situation, the resort we were going to closed all of the amenities, and now, a 90,000 acre wildfire closed the road to the place so I cancelled the stay.
We are still going out of town though.
I am starting to wonder if we will ever see a "normal".

The wife and I go through this same thing for Christmas, Birthdays, Anniversary and Mother's and Father's day. We have been married for 45 years and we have reached the point where if we needed something, we just went out and bought it. Now, it's just a PITA to come up with gift ideas.
Of course, since we've been married for so long, it's actually easier to figure out what to give her (except for Christmas). Usually it's either an out-of-town trip, something for her sewing room or just flowers and cooking what she wants for dinner.
She has it easier for me. Usually I get at least one new pipe a year from her as a gift or she tells me to buy some new pipe tobacco. I can live with that.

Interesting thread & enjoyed all contributions. For me, don't anymore wanna be reminded I'm another ">()*% year older, still upright. Wifie fine with that. For hers, just a $50 inside the card. Otherwise, any $$ spent on birthdays celebrations, to the combined grands & her 3 great grands. Keepin' it simple

I am happy to see that the unaddressed issues are finally getting resolved, but I don't care much for the violence and looting. There is no reason for average black person to have to be afraid of the police 155 years after emancipation. I hope something good comes from it.

Same here, right is right and wrong is wrong. Everyone deserves to be respected. History whether good or bad does not need to be erased, we are what we are. God bless all free people!

It is nice to be at a point in life that getting “stuff” doesn’t enrich your life, it is the journey together.
