Great article, thank you. That would be good to show a non-smoker who equates pipe smoking to cigarettes; it would go a long way to show that there's a big difference. Maybe then show them a video of a Dunhill being made...

That's a fantastic article. Thanks for posting. Never realized how complicated it was to create Perique. 3 years ago, I had the opportunity to witness the perique growing and harvesting in St. James Parish as well as the processes involved at the L. A. Poche processing facility. It is a very labor intensive growing , harvesting, and processing effort. From the comments I heard about efforts trying to shorten the processes involved in order to increase production and/or reduce labor costs has only resulted in failure to produce quality product. Since much of the labor involved is only needed on a seasonal basis that could become the achilles heel someday for the future of perique tobacco.
