I've been smoking pipes since about 1988, with many breaks. We have very few decent tobacco shops here in Washington State, due to weird well-meaning legislation, so it's difficult to find specific pipe tobaccos at a decent price. As if that's not bad enough, it turns out the stuff I smoke no longer exists. So I turned to you all in the pipe forums for guidance. I'm sure I already know many of you, so I look forward to more discussions in this forum.
I'm completely back into acquiring estate pipes and restoring them, buying a few new ones, trying out all sorts of tobacco genres I had never heard of, and also really enjoying meeting interesting people with like interests.

adding welcome/greets from 50miles East of Buffalo, NY. Reall old-timer (12/40),pipe/cigar since '62.
Son/family moved back to Seattle recently. A "spin"in Spokane with WashState U where son is professor. Had to go back as Spokane didn't have a good special education for the 12yr old severe ADAH grand-gal. Seems ok now. Her sis, 11, in regular edu.
Great place to saw thru the threads, sure if you ask questions or ask for advice, you'll get it here. Enjoy your stay

Sounds like you have your priorities right. I lived in a condo in downtown Seattle (Belltown) for about six years, then moved to Tacoma with my girlfriend. It's very quiet here in Tacoma - we live out in the suburbs where it's nothing but old houses and vegetable gardens - and I can sit on the porch and enjoy my pipe. We have our family issues, but it's all part of life. If it were perfect, you'd be waiting for the shoe to fall, right?

Hi there! I don't know where in the state you are, but I can highly recommend the Cargo Hold for a brick and mortar shop; they're in Poulsbo, if you happen to be here on the west side.

Thanks - that is the only shop I ever visit. It's a 45 minute drive, but well worth it, even if it just means a nice conversation with Doug.

Welcome to the Patch from Humble Texas, er, Linden TX! You remind me of a meer from North Carolina by way of Brooklyn.

My daughter called me from Kansas yesterday - they are driving from D.C. to Colorado to house hunt for a new job. I have driven through your state several times in my life, so I told her all the interesting things I did on those journeys. She described having breakfast at IHOP - to go, brought out to their car where they ate it.
