It's always nice when I order some tobacco and it has something on it I can use to tell if it has any age on it. Got some from Tobacco Pipes a couple of mouths ago that had dating on them. So could tell they already had a year on them. Of course with the bulk blends you can never tell. So was wondering is there any sort of average time involved between when the production of the tobacco is finished and the time it takes takes to get to the distributor? Is it really quick like only a month, or is it usually 6 months. Of course if it just sits at the distributors for a year you can't tell that but was just curious?

Furthermore, how well-aged was the tobacco that was used for blending in the first place ... makes a huge difference!

I think that the only thing for sure is that many blends will always spend little time from production to consumer, so that stuff doesn’t sit long. For the other blends, I am sure that there are so many variables in play, that it would be hard to generalize, but I am guessing that once it is produced, out the door it goes.

If you buy bulk by the pound bag it often has the production date on it.

That's a really good question. I suppose it makes a bit of a difference but will probably vary from one vendor to another.
