Just watched my Grandaughter graduate from Catholic School in a covered gym, all 121 of them. It was live streamed, something else. In my day the catholic school kids were from effluent families, when they were expelled and came to our public school they were usually way behind, but they knew their prayers and could genuflect.

When I started high school the assistant principal told us that his job was to teach us how to learn..That was 1957..I've sure had to learn a lot since then..It's a high tech world..Today's kids seem to cope with it though.

My wife moved from Catholic school to the public school early in her senior year. Said she hardly cracked a book because the public school was teaching stuff she learned in her junior year. I guess every school district is different and that was 35 years ago. I hope there weren't any effluent families in your area (except maybe the septic tank pumpers!)

I was in Catholic School for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grades. Did me no harm. I liked the Nuns. The Fathers came by to bless us once and a while.
Classes were too big at 50. So, I went to Public School for the remainder of my time.

I remember once, in parochial school, Sammy Tringle snorted at a joke and passed an entire cheese sandwich through his nose. The nuns thought it was a miracle and locked him in a closet until he could be debriefed by a priest.

Larry, you got through before the social engineering took place. Sadly, much of what is taught now doesn't allow critical thinking, it is more about indoctrination.

In my first science class, first or second grade, the teacher was telling us how things burn. I asked if we weren't going to fill up the atmosphere with smoke and stuff from all of the burning, or use up all the oxygen. She said that the atmosphere was so big that people could never make a difference. 😉😏😕🤠

In my sophomore year of catholic high school, on the first day, I remember my chemistry teacher opening with "next to god, chemistry is everything." It was obvious right then that not much sciencing was gonna take place in that class, so I made it my mission to turn it into philosophy instead. I had a lot of hard questions for that teacher that year... .

I signed up for a chemistry class, not a theology class, didn't I?

Times like that make me wish I had a decent telescope. I think they are way to fast for a telescope. It was just after sunset at 9:13cdt. I just happened to check in on the NASA site and saw the map and they were going to fly right over us in like 5 minutes. The ISS is very big and bright and the Crew Dragon looked like a regular satellite. I had been following the undocking all day and it was exciting to see them flying together.
