I, like many people, use Everclear to keep my pipes clean. I'm running low, so I went out to get more. I went to three different liquor stores, and they all told me it was not available. A friend of mine said that maybe it's all going in to hand sanitizer. Is this a national trend, or is it local to the Denver area?

I did use the last bit of mine to upgrade some old hand sanitizer we had around the house. It's the same here, sells out as soon as it comes in. I've been using 151 Rum to good effect for cleaning my pipes for years and it works great.

About 5 years ago I was living in Longmont, CO. None of the liquor stores there or even in Boulder carried it they could special order it for me but nobody kept in stock Maybe it’s just not as popular in Colorado?

A friend was putting together some hand sanitizer and could not find Everclear, but Mohawk and Graves grain alcohol was available at a better price point.

Hard to find high level alcohol here in Canada to. Yup, people have hoarded it for sanitizer.

You can buy it in gas stations in Louisiana. There are actually several brands of grain alcohol. Another popular one is Diesel.

We were short here when everyone was making their own hand sanitizer. Stock is back to normal and I just bought some a week ago.

151 proof rum is the highest level alcohol sold at ABC stores in the Old Dominion.

I've been using 151 Rum to good effect for cleaning my pipes for years and it works great. I've been using some Cognac I couldn't stand to drink. When it's gone I'll have to give 151 Rum a try. I like rum and rum flavored tobacco - like the idea of using it for cleaning. And of course, I'll drink it too.
