From my house to the subway station. What about on the subway? šš¤ Yeah, I don't know if they ever let you do that. I remember being able to smoke on trains but not if you could smoke in the subway. It'd be nice if I could smoke in the office.

I usually don't smoke outdoors, unless there is barely any wind. When this happens (which is not often in Newfoundland), I like our front porch which overlooks the bay and provides me with an ambience of calm and quietness. Otherwise, if I'm hiking in the woods and decide to take a break, I might just take a pipe out and light up for a bit.

My absolute favorite place is no longer accessible to me. You see I live 1,330 miles away from it now. But my absolute favorite hunting memories are of the area above Falls City Oregon. Both on the Black rock mainline and up into Socialist Valley where my partner at the time and I pulled a couple huge bucks out. As I recall the racks were a 5x5 and a 5x3.

So does the pipe inform the lunt, or the other way around? McG What I was try to ask is do you pick the walk based on the smoke or the smoke based on the walk? McG

I don't know exactly how to answer. I pack a bowl that I enjoy. When I go out I have a slow stroll and let end up where I end up. Mostly I will take a cob and a couple pouches of tobacco.
Swampgrizzly explained it better a few threads back.

So does the pipe inform the lunt, or the other way around? McG For me it goes both ways. The smoke will calm me and I'll notice different things like flowers, trees, wildlife, paddle wheel steam boats, driftwood, the weather, sky/clouds, talk to people, enjoy things more. I focus less on the pipe and more on the walk. If the pipe goes out I don't sweat it too much. Just relight and go. Or don't. Take it easy.Ā You definitely want to walk slowly.Ā Lunting should be more of an enjoyable meander than a purposeful walk, and you still want to be able to pay attention to the flavors as you go. Smaller straight pipes, less cumbersome tobaccos, and carrying a pipe wind cap are helpful. This was the thread.

So far we set a record in PHX at 53 days of temperatures over 110 degrees, and it does not cool much at night. ā In Phoenix, the urban heat-island effect contributes to hotter temperatures.
The vast areas of concrete and asphalt soak up heat from the sun during the day and radiate it at night, pushing temperatures higher than in other undeveloped areas. And in turn, you can see the radar patterns where rain clouds actually push aside and split, bypassing Phoenix.

Swampgrizzly explained it better a few threads back. This actually helps a lot....I tend to over think stuff. For me it would turn into a over complicated process where the number of steps is divided into the number of puffs I might get out of a single bowl, then I would factor in the humidity and wind speed, and possible the price of the US dollar versus the Yen..... but I can see where take your pipe take your pouch take your tools take a walk might be much less stressful McG

Use the KISS principle. If you characteristically over think things frequently, you may be just the kind of guy who might benefit the most from a lunt. Please share your experiences, if you care to, as you explore lunting. No two lunts will be the same. Some will simply be a relaxing experience. Others will have special significance due to what you experience during the lunt. In my own experience, I can honestly say that none of my lunts have been regrettable.

At the same temperature it feels much cooler in Linden. Humidity is worse though.

So does the pipe inform the lunt, or the other way around? McG What I was try to ask is do you pick the walk based on the smoke or the smoke based on the walk? McG Now that is a good question. I had dogs I of course had to walk them, and it was fun to light up a pipe and get a smoke in. Now that I don't have dogs anymore (it has been more than several years since they passed on) I no longer have a need to walk down the road. I might could walk a bit just for the smoking of it, but there is not much I do just for the smoking of it actually.

I have a vest that makes the whole thing almost trivial. I bought one of those really cheap multi pocket vests prompted by an ad that showed up on my Facebook stream. No impulse control I bought it.
Pocket for one or two tins (I like having a choice), lighter, pipe nail, pipe cleaners, and a couple of pipes. It is all packed and ready to grab and go, hanging by the door. The usual procedure is to wear it driving, but I could grab it for a walk.
All I need now is a dog.

I found a nice spot on the the grand river. It's a nice little clearing and a log that looks comfortable. I am going to go feed the wildlife and enjoy a pipe.

I admit I had to look up ālunting.ā It was a new term for me. Iām in the process of training a new pup, or rather I go along when the olā guy , my 10-year-old, trains him by example. We walk the place, go along the creek, go out one way and return another. A mile for me, about 5 for them. Not really very conducive to pipe-smoking though. (I would post a pic but I donāt know how to do that on this forum.)

Found a stream that I haven't been to in years, runs into the grand river. Going to check it out on my hike. I hope there's trout in it.

I always found the peace and serenity of my backyard to be a great spot for a bowl. Other then that golfing at my club is a close second.

Going to sit on the log where I feed the sqirls and birds in the morning. Right beside the river. My favorite place to go.
