New guy here from the big sky state. I am a on and off pipe smoker who loves a good English blend. And I am very interested in the history of pipes and pipe tobacco.

Welcome to the forum, Matt! If I hit the lottery, my summer home will be in Montana. There are a ton of resources out there on the internet, I have bought some great books that have been helpful, I would love to loan them out, but the books never seem to make it back home. I used to like to look at tobaccopipeartistory website, but Ben Rappaport's site decided to make it by invitation only. He knows a lot on the subject, so I contacted him a few times, and his first response was... Did you buy my books? They are all out of print and are expensive when you can find them. They are mostly Meerschaum related. He even shut down his facebook page to invitation only, kinda weird.A few good books that can pop up on abebooks.com for a reasonable prices: Webers Guide to pipes by Carl Weber Pipesmoking A 21st century guide by Richard Carleton Hacker (he has great humor) www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=30540253039&searchurl=an%3Dhacker%26kn%3Dpipe%26sortby%3D17&cm_sp=snippet-_-srp1-_-title1The book of Pipes and Tobacco by Carl Ehwa The Gentle art of pipe smoking by Alfred Dunhill...great read. Alfred's other book is kind of dry, but I thought this was pretty cool. thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/124/reading?page=6&scrollTo=66233Our family business by Mary Dunhill...great read also, some great glimpses into the history of Dunhill Stokkeby "the Life and Times Of a Tobacco man"...makes you wish you traveled with him in life, great guy!

Welcome, from NYC. Don't judge me. However.......on this forum: you'll get some hits, pick up tips, learn to smoke, won't go broke, get woke... good advice from guys that know, is always nice.
Have fun learning, have more fun smoking.
Puns, jokes, bad rhymes.... are my specialty. Like I mentioned....don't judge me. Some kids never grow up.

adding my welcome, greets from 50miles East of Buffalo, NY. Really long timer at various forums, chat rooms etc since 1st got a computer in '01.
Others have probably said it better; my only "claim to infamy" being "Mr. Seniority"( retired railroader where seniority was everything)
Have fun & learn

Yo matt - welcome from near Philly. I love MT, especially summer and autumn. I usually get there to ffish once or twice a year, but this year with COVID complicates things. Are you near Bozeman or Missoula?

Welcome to the patch. I've visited your beautiful state many times. Mostly for business in Dillon but spent much time in Bozeman and Butte.

Are you near Bozeman or Missoula? hp les I am kind of in between those two towns. Missoula I will never set foot in ever again. Bozeman maybe once a year. Those towns are no longer part of Montana. I spend my time with small town and backwoods Montana people. Montana is changing so much and so fast, that it is painful to watch.
