A lady in Charlotte NC who is said to the oldest person alive turned 116 years old today.

I really don't want to go till I have to. At the same time, Im not at all sure I want to be that old; the body just doesn't work right for them codgers!

Really old is relative. Members of my family have never seen 68 so early 60s would be really old for me. God bless her and may she live many more.

saw that on 6pm news. Her 87 year old daughter is her care-giver. If heard right, daughter a long retired nurse. More power to both

If she's got her wits about her, more power to her. Yes indeed...I lost a good friend on August 3rd...at 94 he was still sharp as a tack; I spoke with his girlfriend ,of 80, yesterday ,and she said his last word were of how lucky he was to such a large group of family and friends. like you ,I think if she still has her mind ,there's a reason she's still here. |

I think that many "seniors" would live longer if they had a reason to get up every morning....a pet dog or cat would do it. I know that our brand new lil girl gives us a reason to be happy...we were still "happy" even though our last lil girl had passed, but now she keeps us going...this new lil girl...she has a lot of life in her and she is totally devoted to us as we are to her.

A lot of people (it seems to me) worry too much about how many years they are gonna be on this earth, but never actually take time to "live" while they are here. Ill take quality over quantity any day. I could break my silly neck on a colt tomorrow and be dead at 53, but Ive crammed a whole lot of livin' in those 53 years, and would figure I got my full money's worth.
Livin' is a whole lot more important than bein' alive, and anything else is just a number.

I just talked to my friend who's 6 months older than me and he and his 94 year old mom are buying a home in a "retirement community", with "activities" and such. Shoot me now.
